Day Five - February 17th: Listening
Theme A: Story Theme B: Memories
Ahhh I love Angela so much I crei ;A; For Overwatch OC x Canon Week again! :D @ocwatch-week
Aksel was sat on the roof of the Overwatch base, looking up at the slowly darkening sky. It’s been a few weeks after Recall. Half of the former agents were already at the base. Earlier, Jesse McCree had arrived, causing a small commotion full of glee and maybe a little bit of nostalgia. Aksel chuckled at the previous event and looked down at his hands, his dark cyan blue gaze landing on the wedding ring he wore.
Ligaya had come along with him during the recall, not expecting her older brother Rodel to be there. The young woman was shocked and delighted to see him there. But soon that happiness melted into anger and sorrow. Aksel could still hear her angry and heartbroken voice ringing in his ear.
“You… you know Rodel..?” Ligaya asked, her tone faltering. “And you kept it from me..?”
“Min elskede-” Aksel called out.
“Don’t call me that.” She hissed. Tears brimmed in her hazel brown orbs. “You lied to me, Aksel. You too, Rodel.” She turned to her brother. “I can’t believe you two would do this. I trusted you.”
“Ligaya please-” Aksel managed to say. “It was for the best.”
“Not knowing that my brother is alive and friends with my husband is for the best?!?” Tears flowed freely from Ligaya now. “God, I hate you.”
Aksel’s heart clenched and he clenched his hands into a fist. “I’m such an idiot…” He muttered.
“And why is that..?”
The Dane-Norwegian looked up to see the familiar face of Angela. He gave a small smile and stood, offering a hug. Angela accepted it and returned the hug warmly. She pulled away and gave him one of her bright smiles.
“Still fighting with Ligaya?” She asked gently.
Aksel sighed, rubbing the back of his head. Angela hummed gently, patting his arm.
“I know you were trying to protect her but I honestly think the both of you should have told her.” The Swiss said gently.
“Yeah… I mean, we talk but I could still see the pain in her eyes…” Aksel replied and sat back down.
Angela sat alongside him. Aksel knew that it was his fault and is willing to accept that. The two stayed quiet, watching the sun set lower and lower. Suddenly, a memory came to his mind. The Dane-Norwegian perked up and looked down at Angela.
“Remember the first time you ‘mothered’ me?” He asked. “I was on the roof with girl problems and you came to give me advice.”
Mercy laughed softly at the memory. “Oh yes, I remember. You were like a small shy boy in the body of a young man.” She gave another laugh. “You were so awkward then.”
“I guess I was. But your advice helped a lot, storesøster.”
Angela smiled fondly at the nickname. “You’re still calling me that.” She said with a small pat to his arm.
“What? It’s true. If Rodel wasn’t there at the med bay you would rush over and lecture me like an older sister would.”
“It’s because you were reckless. You were always hurting yourself.”
“Ah, it was worth it. Especially since you would give me Swiss chocolate afterwards on some occasions.”
The two shared a laugh. The sky was now a dark purple mixed with a navy blue. Small lights crept to the sky and scattered themselves, twinkling gently. Aksel looked down at Angela and gave her a hug. The other was shocked but returned it, patting his back.
“Danke, schwester.” He said softly.
Angela smiled. “Selv tak, lillebror.”
