Summary: The story of the cats and dogs friendship between Liu Sang and Jiang Zisuan, and how the truth about A-Ning's death was revealed.
“Dinner and alcohol?” Jiang Zisuan quirked an eyebrow as he stepped back to let Liu Sang in. “Look, if you’ve got tired of those old men you call boyfriends, despite what people think I don’t actually swing that way.”
Liu Sang didn’t even bother to dignify that with a response as he headed straight to the tiny table and put the bags down on it before taking out the containers of delicious-smelling food. “Does this place have bowls and glasses, or are we making do with the takeout containers?” he asked instead. He could hear the tiny snort from the sniper, who began taking out the required items from one of the room cabinets.
Liu Sang filled the bowls as Jiang Zisuan passed them, the smell of delicious food filling the ordinary hotel room, so delicious that his stomach growled in impatience. Even the usually unaffected Jiang Zisuan was eying the dishes with more interest, even going so far as to pick up the bit of beef in green beans that fell out onto the table and eat it with his fingers, his eyebrows going up at the taste. Liu Sang knew how good it was, he’d had that dish before. He’d literally licked his bowl clean afterwards.
They didn’t actually speak beyond pass me this or that until at least half of the food was demolished, and Liu Sang had had to surreptitiously reach down and open the button on his pants because he felt like it was going to burst. Jiang Zisuan was apparently in possession of an additional stomach or five, because by the time Liu Sang was done and unable to eat one more mouthful, Jiang Zisuan was still going strong.
“This is terrifying,” Liu Sang said eventually, watching the sniper hunt for the last bits of lamb shoulder. “Where do you put it all?” he asked eventually, feeling grossed out and fascinated. It looked like Jiang Zisuan and Pangzi could compete with each other about how much food they could eat in one go.
Jiang Zisuan rolled his eyes, and without putting down his chopsticks lifted his left arm and flexed, his powerful biceps straining the black shirt dangerously.
Liu Sang snorted, but conceded. Jiang Zisuan did look like he could bench press Liu Sang and not even break a sweat.
Liu Sang reached for the first bottle of alcohol and opened it. It smelled faintly sweet and fruity and he poured them both a glass.
“So, what’s the occasion?” Jiang Zisuan asked, finishing the last of the meat and hunting for the last remaining grains of rice in his bowl.
Liu Sang lifted the cup in a wordless toast and drank it. He needed that boost before he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. Jiang Zisuan raised an eyebrow again as Liu Sang laid it on the table and pressed PLAY.
“Can you tell me what happened to A-Ning?” His recorded voice sounded strange to his ears, and he wasn’t sure if it was the recording itself, or just because he was listening to his own voice. Jiang Zisuan immediately went still, almost scarily so.
