Some more pics of Kamomi (AKA Mi-chan), mostly for demonstrations of her mood-manipulated energy mane.
She was basically built to be a living Ki-battery, drawing in excess from the environment and concentrating it in her body. She can also actively draw it directly from other living things, but only very slowly, which typically has a calming effect and can cause mild drowsiness at worst.
The stored energy can be used to attack or defend, or be transferred to others, even powering machinery (provided that machinery was constructed to take that kind of energy in a pinch, and she’s around that kind of equipment often). When her own stores are low, her mane dims and eventually just turns white and fluffy (like the insides of her ears). This doesn’t actually affect her health or behavior in any way, only her abilities.
Mi-chan is intelligent to the point of sapience, though her verbal communication is limited to animal noises. However, she’s been known to pull her weight in emergency situations aboard the ship, such as powering and activating emergency distress beacons and/or first aid equipment during EMP strikes and even going so far as rebooting the ship’s Multipurpose Automated Ship Terminal on her own once the coast is clear in the event it’s turned itself off to prevent being hacked or otherwise tampered with. All while being an absolutely precious darling of a pet.
