I get AC or Black Flag doesn’t have a very big/active following on here but y’all are really missing out on Kiddway. It’s pirate Mulan. It’s bisexuality awakening. It’s comrades to friends to doomed lovers. It’s wanting to become a better man because of the selfless good inherent in someone you hold immense respect and affection for. Or rather them clubbing you over your fool head and insisting upon their belief that there’s good in you if you’d just change your damn path. It’s one dying in another’s arms and promising “I’ll always be with you” in a direct parallel to another tragic (canon!) romance from earlier in the series. It’s the ultimate act of intimacy in caring for your beloved’s body and digging the grave you will lie them in; a final embrace they cannot return. It’s falling into a deep depression afterwards and trying to drink yourself to death because it’s all your fault.
