It might be best to read my N'Ever After Headcannon set first, as this will reference some of that. You can find the first post here if you're interested ^^
However, fair warning for Kiddy (the wolf wearing the collar). I have a lot of angsty/dark headcannons related to him. Proceed with caution.
I have also sent some of my headcannons to @slashingdisneypasta through asks, though I'll still list them here. Don't worry, I got some new ones. My headcannons are also greatly influenced by them, so I kind of consider these shared head annons between me and Slashing.
~All three wolves~
Although their names are never stated, I think that they are the three primary big bad wolves in Fairytales, and are named as such. Granny Wolf is, of course, the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood. Rick made a reference to The Three Little Pigs, so I'm guessing Big Bad Wolf is the wolf who blows down houses.
And Kiddy Wolf... He was harder to determine, though I believe he is the wolf in The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids. It's not stated in the movie, though his pale fur could be linked to how the wolf in that story used chalk to make his fur white like the mother goat. Rick also mentions "Cooking little kids" in his toast. It's probably a reference to Red, but I think it could be a reference to the baby goats, too.
Granny was a lone wolf for some time before he met Kiddy. He took pity on the smaller wolf, finding him while he was recovering from his ending, and shared his kill with him. After that, the two were inseparable. A few years or so later, Big Bad found them. Despite challenging Granny, he earned his place in the pack, and from then on, it was the three of them against the world. Other than when they go to repeat their stories, they all can be more than likely found together (in a world of witches and trolls, it can be dangerous to go alone).
There is a bit of an alpha struggle between Big Bad and Granny (yes, wolves irl don't go by the alpha system, but we're talking about magic wolves XD). Kiddy is just fine following them, content with his place and just happy to be here. But Big and Granny are constantly bickering over who really is in charge, and who is the 'baddest'. Kiddy mostly sides with Granny, but he listens to Big Bad too.
Technically, none of them have names. They're all given the title of The Big Bad Wolf, but they don't have their own names. They all kind of just agreed on nicknames based on key parts of their stories. Granny originally called himself Big Bad until BB came into the picture. He really didn't want to give up that name, especially considering Bigs ego. But he knew it was gonna get confusing for Kiddy, and none of the other nicknames they thought up together weren't sticking (Huffy? Puffy? Porky?? Yeah, none of them liked those 😅). So Granny changed his name for the sake of the peace- and had to make it absolutely clear to Big Bad that this was not a sign of submission from him.
We only really see them advance towards the palace after the giant climbs down the beanstalk. After all the trolls have gone way ahead of them. Slashing has pointed out how, next to witches, wolves are the oldest types of villains in fairytales, and must have grown cunning and resourceful from their literal years of experience (unless theyre thinking with their stomachs XD) We both think that they were waiting back purposefully to assess the situation before making a decision on what to do- though, of course, they caught up when they decided it was worth investigating.
~Big Bad Wolf~
Since he's the wolf that blows down the little pigs' houses, he's definitely got the biggest lungs out of all three of them. As such, Big Bad actually has to put in an effort to keep a level volume when speaking. Since he's also the most manipulative, as we saw how he was with Rick, he's had plenty of practice with controlling his voice.
We can see Big Bad was the first bad guy to run into the ballroom, and that he growled at Ricky when he claimed he had to work. As such, I think Bad might be the most ready to jump to aggression out of his whole pack. Sure, he knows how to be friendly. But it's soooo much more satisfying to use his teeth. This also plays into him constantly battling Granny for dominance.
We all know the joke Big Bad shared and laughed at while everyone else in the castle rolled their eyes at him, "The little piggie then said; 'I don't gotta go to the bathroom. I get to go wee wee wee all the way home!'" Big Bad is a big fan of puns and dad jokes. It is decided XD Kiddy loves them all... Granny will laugh sometimes, but other times, he'd be face-palming right alongside those trolls 😅
I got this from slashingdisneypasta; Big Bad is, surprisingly, big on table manners... As big as a ravenous wolf like him can be XD he glanced at Ricky when he placed he feet on the table like 😐 and put his food down before offering his 'advice'. He's also convinced the others to follow his example in this regard. Granny doesn't just rip into his ribs (like Big Bad ripped into his steak-), and Kiddy... He doesn't place his elbows on the table? That might be the best you'll get out of him 😅
Another headcannon influenced by slashing. Inspired by the pigs in his story, Big Bad decided to build himself a cottage deep in the forest to live in, for when he's not summoned to play his part in his tale. He earned his place in the pack by offering Granny and Kiddy a place to live with his home. It was originally a tactic to manipulate them to his advantage (that Granny knew right away what his intentions were), however as they all grew to know each other more and more, Big started to like having Kiddy and Granny around ^^ even if they all know they can't 100% trust each other as villains.
Oh, Big Bad is definitely most like a troublemaker. The way he rubbed his paws together and was like "Sweet" when Frieda summoned them to the palace, while Granny was focused on how odd this was, this tells me that he's got a bit of a rowdy, party animal in him XD
Big Bad, as we saw when Ricky made his toast, can get emotional. Though not genuinely. We saw how quickly his tears dried up when Granny butted in and said the toast was directed towards him. I think that he can readily cry, using it to worm his way into someone's heart. But in actuality, it's hard to get him genuinely crying, whether out of sadness or happiness. He and Granny have definitely had competitions to see who could keep their eyes dry the longest... The victor is still undecided 😅
Big is most swayed by food. If you want to get on his good side, offer him your burger or something XD I mean, in his story, he never got to eat a single pig (well, depending on which version you read, he gets the first two at least). Because of that, he's also specially starving when he's finished with his story, so he's in a bit of a hungry frenzy and it's best to leave him alone for an hour or two while he fulfills his pork craving.
~Granny Wolf~
While Big Bad is the most aggressive and sly, Granny is the most intelligent and observant. He was the first to point out how strange the light above the palace was, and was the first to question Rick's alignment (yes, that's not too much proof, but with 5 minutes of screen time what can you do?). He's the type who would ask so many questions in class, loves riddles, and notices small behaviors that can tell him someone is lying to him. When Big and Gran team up, the smart one and the cunning one, it can get deadly.
Despite this, he's also the more straightforward one... I mean, he's not really known for being subtle, being a huge af wolf that dresses up in granny clothes to fool a kid 😅 if he's feeling a certain way, everyone will know. If Granny wants to say something, he won't hold himself back, etc. Big Bad is similar, though he tries to spin his words in a way that will benefit him in some way (unless he's angry).
Granny also seems to be the nicest- not good. Nice- out of all three of them. He greeted Ricky happily when he came back, and he didn't seem to get mad when Rick tried to say he had work to do and couldn't toast. And we can see he seems to have a soft spot for Kiddy, saving his life and giving him his hat. Now, of course, as a villain, this kindness doesn't go too far (unless you're in his inner circle like Kiddy). And we all know that being nice is far different than being good.
Despite his eyes being such a bright blue, Granny has terrible vision. When he chased Ella, Munk, and Mambo, he didn't see them hide despite being right behind them. As a wolf, he can use his sense of smell to guide him, though his poor vision does still present problems for him. Luckily, Big Bad and Kiddy will look for him if he's gone for too long and will howl during a hunt to tell him to reroute himself. He also takes his physical health very seriously, and that's why he's so damg jacked compared to the others XD
Not really a headcannon, more of an idea I'd love to hear your guys' opinions on; it could easily just be his coloring, but Granny has dark fur with greying fur around his mouth, giving the impression of a beard. This, combined with his intellect and his vision, maybe he could be the eldest out of them all? I'll have to find the dates of the stories too to confirm if Little Red Riding Hood is older than the other two. What do you guys think?
Granny absolutely knows how to sew. He's taken the grandma clothes and made himself that cape, and probably made those pants he wears too. He's patched together quilts for them all- especially Kiddy- in the cottage, and has patched up Big Bad's poor excuse for trousers, too. If he was a father, he's definitely the one making the baby clothes (this, combined with him not minding the nickname Granny and still rocking the nightie after he's done with his story, this all tells me that Granny is completely comfortable with his masculinity 👌)
He actually made Kiddy his collar. And he made it a bright red purposefully so he could see him easier. He's gotta look out for his comrade, after all.
And yet, all this, and Granny still finds amusement in pushing peoples' buttons. Especially Big Bads. We all saw him throw that knife at Big 😅 it is partially because Big Bad hasn't figured out his place in his pack, but also because he finds Bigs' reactions fun XD he'll do the same with anybody. In a tavern, it really is a coin toss on which one of them starts a bar fight first... And more than likely, they start a bar fight between each other 😅
We all saw how Granny handled that sword during the darts game... I think he might have some sword lessons under his belt. Either that, or he's at least interested in learning.
Granny has a big rivalry with the huntsman. Obviously. Over the years, Granny has tried different ways to finally get one over the hero of his story (maybe this is how he learned how to use a sword? He tried to actually battle the huntsman?). Though, since the scales are literally tipped against him, Granny has yet to succeed. When he completes his ending, he'll be pretty pissed and moody, and is more likely to stir up things with Big Bad until he calms down. If Frieda got to remain in control, I guarantee you Granny would have looked for the Huntsman to finally settle the score.
~Kiddy Wolf~
Like I suggested, Kiddy's fur might be so pale from all the chalk he covered himself in the story. He also eats the chalk to change the tone of his voice to fool the kids. That might explain his raspy voice, too. He's eaten so much chalk for his story, his voice is permanently altered.
In his story, the mother goat cuts his stomach open to place stones in his belly. It could very easily just be to accentuate his feral design, but since Kiddy is always standing on two legs and has his arms out in front of his chest and torso, even though it looks like he has trouble navigating on two feet. I think this might be him trying to defend that area. Granted, him standing does leave this area more open, but since he was lying down napping when the mother goat, he may have decided that standing on two legs would be better.
He also has terrible insomnia because of the circumstances of his ending. It took him so long to feel comfortable enough around Granny to fall asleep, and he was right back to square one when Big Bad first showed up. He can only sleep curled up in a ball and under something, like a piece of furniture or even a blanket (hence Granny making him quilts). He feels protected that way.
Kiddy really loves more fatty foods. Hence him ordering a burger and fries, and I think he may have been the one that said "Dibs on the chubby one!" Just before the bad guys broke into the castle. And he'll also join Granny sometimes while he's working out (though he has difficulty keeping up); Kiddy wants to bulk up and get bigger. He may not fight for the position as leader, but he doesn't want to be the 'weak one' He's a big bad wolf, too, after all! He also just likes the taste of the fat.
With how hunched Kiddy is, it looks like he might have plenty of back problems. Somebody please get this baby boy a chiropractor! 😭
Since Granny fed him that first time, Kiddy has picked up a tiny habit of trying to eat his food 😅 he just likes his friends' food! It's tastier! Granny has gotten used to this, and knows to give him reminders every now and then to keep his paws to himself (hence him not even thinking twice about blocking Kiddy from his ribs, and wasn't that mean about it). Kiddy will do this to all his favorite people XD
Although they're 'blink and you'll miss it' frames, there are some times when he's on screen that Kiddy has his mouth fully closed. His teeth do look pretty bulky compared to Granny and Big Bad, so it could be that he has a hard time closing his mouth with his bite. Though it could be Kiddy's way to ward off any potential enemies.
Even though he's not the strongest or smartest, Kiddy is the most persistent and viscious. In his story, he kept coming back to the house until the baby goats let him in, and he did not leave until he found and ate up all of them- save for one, only because he was full. Kiddy is the kind of canine who will bite down hard and won't let go, no matter how many times you smack him. You could potentially lift him up while he's still latched onto your arm XD
Kiddy is the one with the most trauma from his Fairytale. Once he's completed his ending, Kiddy will be very quiet and fearful; growling and snapping at anything unfamiliar with his arms crossed over his aching belly. When Granny takes him back home, Kiddy dives right under his bed and will stay there for the rest of the evening. By the next morning, he's... Not back to normal, he gets a little worse for wear with each cycle of his story. But he's able to go on hunts with Granny again, and laugh at Big's jokes again. It's unclear how much more Kiddy can take.
This is all I've got so far. I hope to think of more in the future, and that you guys enjoyed reading these! ^^
HAPPILY N'EVER AFTER WOLVES OBSESSING XD Toldya this was coming, haha
I LITRRALLY JUST FINISHED RE-WATCHING THE FILM WHEN YOU SENT THIS IN!!! And I have T H O U G H T S
First of all,
AAAAAAAHHHHHAAAAAAHGHGHHHHHH
I can't wait to read this when you post this!!! God, I love it already!!! We've only seen these guys like- what, yesterday? And you're already making me obsessed with these fellas!!! I love the dynamic you've written with all of them! Especially Kiddy. Being all cute and sneaky like that XD ^^ I'd love to stick with him watching the two husband's wolves bicker like a married couple XD
Secondly! To that last thing you mentioned about Mambo! In the movie, he's actually talking to Ella while they're finding the prince. A frog comes out, and they try the 'kissing a frog to turn it into a prince' thing XD but imagine if that suggestion was being made towards Granny? He won't turn into a prince, but I don't mind giving this theory a try 👀
(Edit: Ok I rewatched the scene and NOW I hear Mambo saying it XD sorry about that 🤦♀️ well uh... Mambo? I don't think that's how that works in Fairytale land... But we can still test this theory!)
But!! But- But! In the movie, the chefs mention Ricky having 'prince envy'. This was probably meant to just be a Rick specific thing, but since this is Fairytale land, imagine if that was like an actual known thing no matter who you are? Being jealous of your crush liking some 'dashing hero'? You get where I'm going with this~?
What if one (or all) the wolves like Y/N, but their crushing on some town hero or something, so THEY are now inflicted with 'prince envy'??? How do you think Big Bad, Granny, and Kiddy would act with the prince envy?
I'm sorry, i don't mean to distract from your thing, I just... AAAAAGHHHHH! Maybe I should send you my own ask? I may or may not already be thinking of a possible OC to interact with these guys, if you'd like to hear. But thank you so so much for sending me this!!! I certain this is just the beginning XDD
Villains who are good to their servers <3!!<3!!<3!!
You know who this is about. You know.
(Oh I know who this is about) YES!!! yes yes yes yes! We all need more villains who don't treat their servers like dirt! Like the wolves from N'ever After!
Villains, take note. The bad guys had no reason to be nice to the server Ricky. You'd think they'd even try to be mean to him or something! But no. Big Bad, Granny, and even Kiddy welcomed him to their table, offered him some mead, asked about his life, and even treated him like one of their own. Big Bad even cried at the toast he made Ricky gave!
Don't be a Karen. Be a wolf. Be a Big Bad wolf, and treat your servers like people too <3
