#Truestory I have #fans who appreciate my #art, however I've never met a fan at age #8 besides my son, who has memorized one my #poems on page 44 of my book Loose Knot.I was honestly flattered by this!! Kid: Aw. Sherlock Holmes has patches just like mom.

Friend: Yup. He's not smoking.

Kid: WAIT. Does this mean he doesn't have a pipe?

Friend: Um, maybe not.

Me: He can't smoke anywhere--it's not allowed.

Kid: So he can't have a pipe? He has no pipe. *thinks*

Kid: OK.

Kid: Hey. He better have the hat.

Kid: WAIT. Where's the hat?

Kid: (looks at me) WHAT ABOUT THE HAT?

Me: I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Me: *inwardly reciting, "It's an EAR HAT, JAWN!"*

Me: *begins giggling*

Kid: So we have to watch them all now, right? To see the hat?

Me: Maaaaybe.

Friend: I am going to kill you for making my kid into a fanboy for this show.

Me: My work here is done.

Friend: Sure.

Kid: Aw, man, do we have to watch this?

Friend: Yes.

Me: *flails inwardly, keeps really, really quiet as ASiP starts*

Friend: I know I'll miss references to the stories here. You can tell me about those. Just don't say the lines.

Kid: (out of the blue, proudly) I know where Sherlock Holmes lives, you know. I know all about Sherlock Holmes. And Dr. Watson.

Me: Ooookay...?

Friend: Oooookay...?

Kid: Sherlock Holmes lives at 221B Baker Street. He is friends with Dr. Watson. And he's, like, this detective who has a pipe and hat.

Friend: Did you read that?

Me: Wow! How did you know?

Kid: Duh. I saw it on Tom and Jerry.

Friend: Of course you did.
