I wish I could explain how much shawn means to me to all of my family & friends that don’t understand.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to put into words what I feel when I hear his name. Although I have never met this boy, he has saved me more than any of them could ever even imagine. When I hear his name or his voice I feel an insane amount of safety brush over me. I just want them to be able to feel what I feel because I know if they did, they would understand why I watch all of his interviews, or have his post notifications on for all social media’s, or spend hundreds of dollars just to see him do what he loves. They don’t understand that when I was at my lowest, him & his music was what helped me find joy in the little things again. I wish they would be able to feel the insane amount of strength I feel when I listen to his songs. Shawn Peter Raul Mendes is my safe place.
Shawn, you have impacted so many people. It’s crazy, it really is because most people would think that his fan base is solely little teenage girls that love him for his looks but wow do they have it all wrong. You have touched all the many different people that have come into & through your life, including me. Your drive to speak the truth & simply to just do better in this world motivates me to do the same. With that being said, you are the reason I’m not afraid to speak about my mental health & ask for help or stand up for what I believe is right. About a year and a half ago I was asked “what is your favorite quality about yourself?” At the time, I didn’t love or respect myself so I made a bullshit answer up but I was asked again today and the first thing that came to mind is my drive to do make a difference. Shawn, you have taught me to love myself & to know that I will ALWAYS come out of a hard situation even stronger than I was before.
And please for anyone is going through a hard time, “we all get lost sometimes, don’t leave your heart behind”. You will get through this & don’t be afraid to ask for help. Whoever is reading this is free to message me at ANY time!! I promise I’m a good listener(: you are beautiful & I love you
