My bbys as young foals ❤ ~Prince of the Air, Pegasus!Castiel, offers his new friend, Prince of the Wood: Centaur!Dean, a flower he found growing in the earth. He does not understand yet the meaning behind giving a rose. However, Dean does.

I’m a little bit obsessed with the idea of Castiel being tasked to come to Earth and watch little Dean Winchester as he escapes from his burning house. Only, instead of taking an adult vessel, he asks 4 year-old James Novak. And when Dean is crying and clutching Sam tightly to his chest, Castiel literally cannot stop himself from going off-book and approaching the pair. He reaches out before he realizes what he’s doing. His fingers brush down Dean’s sleeve and the other boy looks up with tear-stained cheeks.

The moment their eyes meet, John Winchester comes running out of the building. Castiel disappears. 

And Dean can barely remember the strange boy who looked so sad the night of the fire.

concept: seven year-olds dean and cas refusing to partake in the regular snow day sun (i.e. building snowpeople, making forts, having snowball fights), and instead running their own hot chocolate stand.

DeanCas Halloween husbands.

“C’mon, Dean!”

Castiel marches up the driveway, past the distressed-looking jack-o-lanterns and fake spider webs. Though he’d normally be terrified by the grotesque heads hanging from the tree up front and the scary mannequins dotting the path to the door, a husband is brave.

So Cas is brave, too.

He adjusts his blue tie and holds tight to the little bucket in his hands, fingers turning almost white. There’s a witch handing out candy, but she looks nice enough, and Castiel sets his four year-old shoulders before continuing on.

He’s almost at the door when he notices his husband is missing.

“Dean!”

There are lots of older kids on the stoop, and Cas gets turned around a whole bunch before he finally makes it back to where Mary stands at the bottom of the driveway with baby Sam. Dean is wrapped round one of her legs.

“C’mon, Honey!”  Castiel cries, pointing to the house. “Let’s go!”

Dean shakes his head.

Frowning, Cas drops his candy bag on the floor and approaches his friend like he would a scared cat, toddling up to the other boy with a concerned frown. “Dean?” he asks softly. “What’s the matter?”

“I’m not going up there,” Dean mumbles into Mary’s leg. “Something’s gonna get me. It’s too scary.”

Castiel frowns. “But it’s pretend.”

“It won’t be pretend if something eats me!”

Cas looks up to Mary, who’s rocking Sam with one arm and playing with Dean’s hair with the other. She nods down to her son with a wink.

Sighing, Castiel puts a hand on Dean’s back and looks at him with all the seriousness he can muster. “I’ll protect you.”

“How?”

“I’ll just fight all the bad guys off,” Cas shrugs. “That’s what husband’s do, right?”

Dean seems to consider this for a moment. It’s true: his dad does protect his mom from bad dreams and stuff. Maybe Cas can protect him from these monsters. “…Okay.”

“Okay.”

So, with swollen bags of candy, Dean and Cas make their way to the door. Dean is practically glued to Castiel’s side, one of his hands clasped tight to his friend’s as they climb the stairs. Dean’s eyes are closed as Cas leads him through the throng of older kids to where the candy is.

As soon as the witch sees them, she grins and kneels. “Happy Halloween!”

“Trick-or-treat!” Cas says in response. He holds out his bag and forces Dean’s arm out as well.

The witch drops candy into their bags. “You don’t have to be scared,” she tells Dean. “It’s all pretend.”

Dean whimpers and cuddles further into Castiel’s side, to which the blue-eyed boy leans forward and says: “I’m protecting him.”

“Well, you’re doing a great job.”

“Thanks!” Cas says brightly. “He’s my husband so I have to, it’s in the rules. Do you have a husband?”

The witch nods, her smile turning soft and sweet. “You’re dressed up as husbands?”

While Dean is buried into Cas’s neck, Castiel wraps an arm around him and nods, just like he’s seen his parents do. For good measure, he presses a clumsy kiss to the other’s temple. “Yeah,” he says. “Dean’s Mommy said that when you love someone the best you get married, so we got married! We have a piece of paper and everything.”

“Well, Dean is very lucky to have a husband like you.”

“And I’m really lucky to have a husband like him!”

With that, they bid the witch goodnight and clamber back down the stairs. They hold hands for the rest of the night.

“Trick-or-treat!”

Dean kneels to put the candy into the T-Rex’s bucket, her blonde hair haphazardly poking out of the costume as she rocks back on her heels. “I love your costume,” Dean tells her as he pulls away and sits back on his heels, watching her peer into her bucket to see what new loot she’s been given.

“Thanks!” she says enthusiastically. She just about to turn and walk back down the front steps when he pauses, looking between him and, no doubt, the person behind him.

“Are you guys dressed like twins?”

“Something like that,” Dean replies.

The T-Rex nods before jumping down the steps and towards her parents.

As soon as she’s out of sight and Dean has righted himself, arms wrap around his waist from behind, pulling him into a tux-covered chest. Dean grins.

“Twins?” Cas breathes, leaning in to press a kiss to the other’s neck. “That’s an idea.”

“Please,” Dean rolls his eyes. “And get rid of an old classic?”

Humming, Castiel threads their finger together, identical gold bands clinking together as they sway together on the porch. “Even so, this might be considered cheating.”

“Why?”

“Because we’re already husbands, honey.” The last is said all sugary sweet, and Dean smirks.

“That just makes us crafty, huggy bear. Now c’mon, we’ve still got half a horror movie left and I want to finish picking all the Coffee Crisp out of the bowl before the next group of kids come by.”

Turning in his arms, Dean presses a quick kiss to Castiel’s mouth before pulling him inside. “You’ll protect me during the movie, right?”

Cas grins. “Of course. What are husbands for?”
