It was a long day and it was shaping up to be even longer. Charley had already been in labor for over eighteen hours and she still wasn’t ready to push. The spinal block the anesthesiologist gave her seemed to be helping enough for her to get some sleep at lest, even if it took Kieran promising to also sleep to actually relax her enough to nod off. Jaime had to admit, he didn’t expect his brother-in-law to actually make the birth when they checked into the hospital, but Kieran running in, clearly exhausted and fresh off the plane impressed him.
While the lovebirds got some sleep, Jaime went to the cafeteria for more of the sludge the hospital presumed to call coffee. But when he returned to the room, he noticed that Kieran was awake and watching Charley. “I thought you promised her that you would sleep?”
