Swimming Continued

My absolute favorite part of swimming wasn’t winning, it wasn’t making a best time, it wasn’t beating a rival, it was a really good backstroke start.  You just feel so accomplished and it’s fun!  My coaches always yelled at me to focus more about going out instead of up with a super arched back, but it was just fun to go up and arched lol.

Good for Donata Katai, being the first black swimmer from Zimbabwe!!!  

The best feeling in the world was taking off your cap at the end of a race before hopping out.  It was FREE!

It’s always fun when the swimmers in outside lanes win, unless you’re the swimmer in the middle lanes lol.

The difference between the non-seeded heats and the seeded heats is so ridiculous to watch.  

Oooooooooo Taylor Ruck starting on the lane line.  Ouchhhh.

FINALLY KATIE LEDECKY TIME.  Her technique AND strategy for this event is so amazing, I love her so much and she is my role model.

Okay but can we also talk about Summer MacIntosh??  14 YEARS OLD??  

I cannot wait until the final between Queen Ledecky and Ariarne Titmus.

There is nothing more exciting than the men’s free relay fighting between the USA and Australia.  

NEVER EVER EVER UNDERESTIMATE THE AMERICAN MEN’S RELAY.

Swimming masterpost

Instead of a ton of small posts, I’m just going to put all my thoughts here lol

Every single time a swimmer is way ahead in the fly and back and then falls way behind in breast, I feel that on a freaking spiritual level because breaststroke is the devil’s stroke.

I cannot believe that Seto didn’t make it through in IM.

What I really want is for people to understand just how tiny of a second separates swimmers.  Zhang Yufei and Emma McKeon are tied for first which is awesome to see, followed directly by Sarah Sjoestroem with Torri Huske less than half a second behind.  It’s wild y’all.

My god that was a slow 400 free heat, holy shit.  The final heat should not have been that slow and I hope the swimmers are just like...what the fuck.

Swim Finals Master Post

Continuing swimming commentary, this time for the first night of finals.

I am so freaking jealous of the warmup pool and team areas.  They’re so much nicer than the vast majority of main pools I’ve had meets at.

alex walsh... a 200/400 swimmer training with a sprint specialist might have worked in the ncaas but right now she's reached a plateau and it's just not working
