Swim Finals Master Post

Continuing swimming commentary, this time for the first night of finals.

I am so freaking jealous of the warmup pool and team areas.  They’re so much nicer than the vast majority of main pools I’ve had meets at.

I don’t necessarily miss swimming, but I do miss competing.

WHY IS JAY SUCH A PRECIOUS NUGGET?!?!?!

I cannot imagine swimming butterfly a few months after breaking my elbow holy shit.  As someone whose main stroke was fly, oh my god.

OMG HAFNAOUI, THE TUNISIAN SWIMMER I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM OMG!  HE BARELY EVEN QUALIFIED AND NOW HE WON!!!!!!!!!!  THIS IS WHY THE OLYMPICS ARE THE BESTTTT.  This is Tunisia’s fifth gold medal ever omg.  He’s so precious, I want to give him all the hugs omg.

Literally the most annoying thing about swimming in prime time is when they say “4 by 100 relay”.  Just call it the 400 relay holy shit.

It’s amazing how fast Peaty is because he’s so big, which is not the normal body shape for amazing breaststrokers 

Relays were always the most fun to swim for sure.

Okay, why did they put Simone Manuel as the anchor when she didn’t even make the team in the individual 100 free???  Why didn’t they put Natalie Hinds there?!!?!!

Today’s #WCW is @ebeisel34 I am so excited to watch @officialsurvivor_cbs tonight and cheer for her ❤️❤️❤️ I learned how to #swim about two years ago and my ultimate swim dream remains to be able to compete in the #400IM in US Masters #Swimming A big part of that is because I’m a glutton for punishment and I pick the hardest things out of the bunch, but also because when I think of the 400IM, I think about #ElizabethBeisel She’s well-rounded and the complete package in the water, has a super bubbly personality, and such a nice person overall. I’ve already told my friends in a secret #Survivor discussion group on FB that I’m hugely biased in favor of Elizabeth so they’ve been warned. Looking forward to seeing how this season unfolds.
