Kierya knelt in front of the hearth, staring at the low flicker of magical fire and listening to the rhythmic sound of a whetstone over a blade.

Across from her, Okahni knelt, one of his scimitars in his lap as he sharpened the weapon. He paused to lift it up to the light, and thumbed the edge to check it before continuing.

Always, she had always admired Okahni, and she wondered what lay beneath his calm, cool exterior. Her feelings for him were no secret, and some perigees prior, a matespritship between them was arranged by the elder- Her own father. Such things were rare these nights, but it seemed in agreement that Okahni should have a companion within the village. She was honored to be arranged with the village’s last warrior, but...

... His politeness never seemed to shift. She never seemed to see more of the kind of person that he was. He acknowledged her, of course, and hardly ignored her; He checked in on her and even encouraged her to often visit the others around the village instead of remaining in the hive.

But she wanted to be in the hive, with him. He never spoke of the outside, of how he was doing, of anything regarding himself.

“Okahni...”

“Yes?” Okahni lowered his weapon to his lap, shifting to give her his full attention.

Kierya fidgeted for a moment, knowing that only made the tension worse. “You have another quadrant, don’t you? An outsider.”

“Yes. Villoh.”

“What’s she like? I know I’ve met her, but... I’d like to hear your opinion.”

Okahni turned his gaze back to the scimitar in his lap as he went to loosen the hilt. He didn’t want to talk about this. “She’s confusing. A bit coarse, blunt. But she’s a good troll.”

A slight pause.

“I likely won’t be going to visit her as much. She is still an outsider.” He continued.

Kierya knit her fingers together. “Isn’t that what Ashtir wanted?”

Okahni’s gaze flicked back up. “Hm?”

“What I mean is... Father- The elder told me that Ashtir raised you outside of the village specifically so you’d meet outsiders.”

Okahni’s gaze went back to the weapon as he resumed working on it. He was silent for several long moments. “I suppose that might have been one of the reasons.”

Okahni didn’t seem keen on saying anything more. Kierya dropped her gaze, and fell silent.

My daughter Kierya Ann Bowers was conceived today ♥

When I found out:

My mother and her family friend both cornered me in my bathroom and kept yelling at me, telling me to get an abortion, telling me lies to try to cave in. It was complete bullshit, I mean where was my say in all of this? I'll tell you. 

I kept my little girl, I went the full nine months, Of course; the first few months were the most stressful.. but I got my way, for once in my life I did something I wanted, not the influence of my mother, and I'm glad.

Kierya is nine weeks old and weighs 11 pounds. She had blonde peach fuzz and big blue eyes, and she is everything I could ever ask for in a child. She look s so much like me, and that itself makes me smile everyday ♥

I am going to give her the best childhood anyone could ask for. I'll be the one she can come to if something is on her mind, the one who plays dress up and dances like no one is watching, I'll be the mom I never really had when I was growing up..
