The world of TCG is filled with a privileged few and hundreds of rejects. And that's what we're going to understand with our topic of the month : "Gormiti: Lords of Nature Returns!"

Tobias "Toby" Tripp - Lord of the Sea

If I were to rewrite the series, I think I'd like to play on Toby's competitive side. Of course, he'd still be the comic relief of the group; but I'd give him a fear of failure that pushes him to give 210% in what he enjoys, even against his loved ones. By getting isekai-ed with his brother and their friends in Gorm, Toby would learn to slow down and rediscover the joy of simply swimming for himself.

Nicholas "Nick" Tripp - Lord of Earth

I had the idea that Nick and Toby's father was one of the last members of an ancient brotherhood that protected the portal between Earth and Gorm. He retired after getting married and never spoke of his supernatural past to his family. That is, until the day his sons reopened the portal with their classmates and got isekai-ed to the Gormiti. There, they accidentally absorbed the power of the Elemental Orbs and became the Lords of Nature mentioned in the subtitle. Being the nerd he is, Nick is incredibly excited to be able to study a whole world so different from his own that he doubts his desire to return to Earth.

Lucas Wanson - Lord of the Forest

My idea was to make Lucas a more passive character who would act as a mediator between his friends. He certainly wants to return to Earth, but he's also the one who reminds them to take their time and stay calm, especially in their eccentric situation.

Jessica Herleins - Lady of Air

In my rewrite, I plan to revisit Jessica's competitive streak and make it her main flaw. She feels the need to constantly prove her worth because she grew up in a very sexist environment. She hides behind a facade of frivolity, but she's just as fierce as Toby during a swimming race. That is, until she manages to break free from this vicious cycle by realizing she has nothing to prove to anyone.

Today, we'll talk about the second series of italian magical girls with a fairy aesthetic from the 2000s : "Winx Club" !

Bloom

If I were to rewrite the series, I don't think I would change much about Bloom's character, except for a stronger affinity for spicy food.

If I were to rewrite the series, I'd rework Stella as an influencer who treats her royal heritage lightly. Until growing up alongside her friends and becoming a worthy sovereign.

If I were to rewrite the series, I would have Musa lose her wings while saving Alfea's library from burning down in the Trix attack instead of Galatea. So Tecna would've invented prosthetics for her that fit in a backpack and were powered by her fairy dust. I know it sounds cruel, but I think it would further support the theme of self-sacrifice needed to become a full fairy. It'd also be an occasion to convey beautiful messages about rebuilding yourself after a tragedy and living with a disability.

Today, we'll talk about the 9th iteration centered around a surprisingly popular secondary character: "Sabrina's Secret Life" !

In my alternative pitch, my Sabrina would live a normal life in the mortal world, while regularly traveling to the magical world to explore her cultural heritage. In doing so, she would have to face the consequences of being the first half-witch in generations. For better or for worse.

In my pitch, her family owns a tailor shop where Maritza helps out. When Sabrina gets permission to reveal her secret, Maritza follows her on her adventures, hoping to study witchkind fashion. All while supporting her friend against the various bigots who have a bad habit of speaking up when no one wants to listen.

My version of Cassandra hides her witch nature with a necklace containing some sort of perception filter. As the niece and sole heiress of Enchantra, Queen of Witchkind, Cassandra is one of the most gifted and powerful apprentices of her generation. She's sent on a cultural exchange to the mortal world, as she'll have to make decisions that will affect both worlds in her adulthood. This doesn't exactly thrill her, especially since she has to live with Sabrina the half-witch, with whom she will develop a rivalry that is as intense as it is respectful.

Plot-wise, I envisioned my Harvey as a somewhat ordinary but nonetheless kind guy who charmed Sabrina with his natural enthusiasm. He'll be the last to learn about magic and everything else because Cassandra chose him as her confidant to infuriate Sabrina -even though she'd already chosen Maritza as her confidante. Once he's part of the band, he'll become its Heart, helping his friends stay united despite the hardships and the general toxicity the adults try to impose on them. I think normalizing more passive and emotionally honest male characters would be a step in the right direction, both for them and for the audience in general.

To kick off this season 4 in style, we're going to head to the stars with the final part of the 2000s Marathon triad : "Team Galaxy" !

Joshua "Josh" Kirkpatrick Age : 17 Species : Human Roles : piloting, close combat, basic mechanics

Fluffy Age : 7 Species : Ultrapet D0-GGO Model Roles : tracking, close combat, basic hacking

In my rewrite, Josh wouldn't just be a galactic-grade slacker; he'd feel crushed by the legacy of his father, who was one of the best stellar agents of his time. As a result, he'd try to build an identity and reputation quite different from his father's to prove his worth. The show would be an opportunity for him to admit he has a lot more in common with his father and accept that he can learn from him to become a good person.

Yo-Ko Age : 15 Species : Sonastian Roles : basic piloting, close combat, light to heavy weapons handling, sound engineering

In my imaginary pitch, Yo-Ko would be an expatriate from the planet Sonastia who chose to enroll in Galaxy hoping of learning more about humans. This is how she'd become fascinated by our arts and entertainments. She would therefore attempt to blend Earth and Sonastian sensibilities, to the delight of alien ears and the misfortune of human ears. This is how she deals with her homesickness, when her friends aren't trying to cheer her up.

BR-3T "Brett" Age : 7 Species : Android 3T model Roles : systems management, close combat, enhanced hacking, universal translation

In my imaginary pitch, Brett would be an amnesiac alien android that Director Kirkpatrick found shortly after taking over Galaxy. While waiting to discover more about his creation and purpose, he enlisted him as a student in an attempt to give him as much autonomy as possible. By spending time with other students, particularly Josh and Yo-Ko, Brett would learn to become more and more "alive" while waiting for the day he'd regain his memory.

On this day of capitalist love, we're gonna talk about a Disney knock-off that had too many sequels for its own good : The Swan Princess !

My version of Odette would be a fairy from Rothbart's court. Normally a swan, she takes human form near bodies of water. She'd then meet Derek, fall in love with him, and have to renounce her immortality to be with him. And to do so, she'd have to pass a rather twisted test devised by Rothbart, to prove not only the purity of her love, but also of the prince's love.

I think that in my rewrite, Derek would be a bit closer to Siegfried's charaterization in the ballet. Namely, that he often tries to avoid his princely responsibilities by going off to explore the forest. There he'll meet a fairy who can transform into a swan, with whom he'll form a bond of friendship and then love. However, a fairy loving a mortal is strictly forbidden unless one can prove that this love is both sincere and reciprocated. And to do so, Derek will have to pass a test decided upon by Rothbart, the master of the court to which Odette belongs.

In my retelling, Rothbart rules over a court of fairies who can transform into birds. Thus they travel constantly, far removed from human affairs. When young Odette falls in love with Prince Derek, Rothbart vetoes the relationship, imposing a test on the lovers. Indeed, he despises humans, convinced their forbidden love will never last and that Odette risks losing her fairy nature for nothing. Will Odette and Derek prove him wrong ?
