[initial reactions] Killjoys 3x05 - Attack the Rack

I think this is the episode where the reality that she can’t save everyone is something she learns.

Aneela shows that she is much better at this long term planning thing even when her second in command and Delle Seyah Kendry are squabbling for her attention. Her eyes are firmly on the prize: Dutch. And her goal to make Dutch lose everyone of her resources, which she does in spectacular fashion by robbing Dutch and the whole Quad of the RAC.

Delle Seyah does seem to be still very much human in both her reactions and her passions, which is interesting given all the other Hullen we’ve seen transition from Human to Hullen.

Delle leaning in to kiss Aneela seem to catch Aneela off guard, I don’t think anyone willingly approached or touched her without her say so for centuries so Delle’s forwardness caught her off guard. I do wonder if Delle likes Aneela because of Aneela or will this be another bone of contention for Aneela because Delle’s attraction might be because of Dutch.

And oh man, Johnny :(. I do wonder if there will be a long term side effect to that memory torture-- the moment when Johnny realized he forgot a few key things: who he first slept with, who to math--- broke my heart. It reminds me of the SGA story “Your Cowboy Days Are Over (Mammas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys)” by samdonne/m/maayan. A story where John Sheppard trades his memories as currency, and how he wonders if losing this memory is his undoing. Johnny’s fear right there reminds me of Sheppard’s with an added extra bonus of Johnny losing what it is that makes him Johnny-- his smarts.

Then there’s D’avin, who I pretty sure they Hullinized or put the whammy on before Johnny saved him.

Then there’s the moment before Dutch and Johnny activated the bloodline doomsday weapon and its such a sweet moment.

And it all runs down to Aneela snatching Dutch’s victory and robbing her of her advantage within the RAC.

I’m not happy that Banyan Gray died btw, things are feeling Audrey Parker-esque in the way it seems Dutch is the only woman who survives in the show. I mean, Delle Seyah Kendry beat the odds cause she’s Delle Seyah but Banyan dying just when we discover she’s not Hullen? Not cool.

Then there’s Fancy’s storyline, we learn that some of the cleansed human Hullen hosts have returned to the Hullen fold because they miss being Hullen. Turin fails Fancy because up to that point Fancy thought he had the full confidence of the team, Turin hesitating to back him up was a pointed reminder that because he was once Hullen there are some doubts lingering about his loyalty.

I wish it was Dutch who talked to Fancy in the end, I think it would have helped better than Turin’s half-assed apology.
