I really love this scene for what it teaches us about Kim. We already know Winner is overconfident and arrogant and can't put his money where his mouth is, and Kim really contrasts against that part of him. There is a calm measuredness to his confidence, and it's rooted in his knowledge of himself, his own abilities, and the work that he puts in. And with that comes an understanding of his own limitations and the need to continue to develop - because he's not blinded by his ego, nor is he controlled by insecurity.
Whereas Winner is almost defined by his insecurity and his desire to blame his failures on anything but his own ability. Babe's unfair senses, Babe's superior car. He'd rather depend on getting a high powered car from Tony to win than put in the hard work to prepare, because if he actually tries his hardest and still loses, then he would have to actually contend with failure.
But not only does Kim understand that he can't win without working for it- he refuses the idea of taking a shortcut to victory. Because he can't test his limits without a fair race.
Kim's sense of justice, his value of fair play, and his drive to see how far he can go as a racer are all tied together in a way that makes up the core of who he is and I LOVE HIM
The balls on Kim Minsu because this is how he stares Winner down after THROWING the match and costing Winner cold hard cash hahahahahaa Winner or loser, I'd be sore too
Also, love the shot because of how much bigger Kim's shadow despite the height difference.
