Sometimes I post NSFW content here—the fannish headcanon sort, so this is not a space for minors.

I grew up on kinkmeme rules, so I don’t particularly care to control what people do with fictional characters, whether it’s my cup of tea or not. I don’t align with anti beliefs on puritanism within fandom.

This is not a space for radfems, tradfems, or white supremacists.

I am a very political person, but this is not really a political space, for the sake of my mental health. I’m a queer latine living in Texas, and sometimes I need to not think about the fact that my government wishes I were dead. 👍 Me not engaging with a political or activist post is not a moral failing. I also don’t think social media is a reliable source of news.

I will tag content warnings when I am asked to. I am here to have a good time and I want other people to enjoy themselves. I aim to not be a bigot. But I will not make performative claims that this is a safe space for xyz group, when I know that I can and will make mistakes.

Being involved in drama stresses me tf out but I will be vocal about things when my bullshit meter is tipped. I'm consistently cranky and I hold grudges like a corvid.

if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to

PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply

so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...

so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts

posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig

So I'd say one of three things is happening (if anything is happening):

Cash grab event for the tenth anniversary. Another concert, maybe. Just something low cost that'll yield a much higher profit through ticket sales. Big ole concert somewhere in Japan (maybe even Kyushu where Yuuri's hometown is) that cinemas around the world will stream. Commemorative merch available to order.

The Damn Movie. Finally.

Sequel/mini series. Perhaps the movie's been scrapped for whatever reason, so they went with something else and have been working on it in secret for years without anyone letting on.

I have no idea why anyone thinks "Heated Rivalry" has literally anything to do with this. "They saw the popularity of HR and realized people like gays on skates!" YOI created the genre of gays on skates.

The YOI movie didn't face issues because of a lack of popularity. That's the one issue it's never had.

I want to hope it's a sequel series rather than the movie because I'm not a fan of prequels in general, but we'll see. \:D/

I don't have much hope, but there's always some hope!

The Queer "Subtext" in Soul Mate (2026)

This is gonna have a lot of spoilers in it. This is not an argument about whether you should like the show or even watch the show, this doesn't free the show from complaints, of which I have many. This is just about whether or not this show should be dismissed merely on the basis of it not being "queer enough."

And frankly I think that a "queerbait" or "bromance" reading of this series relies on a view of queer relationships that excludes queerplatonic relationships and aroace people. Relationships can be queer without the involvement of sex or romance. The sex and romance don't even have to be "implied" for it to count as queer. A relationship can be queer without sex or romance.

Some of this is subtext and some of this is literally just the text. (And this is just the stuff that I felt was very surface level, this doesn't include, for instance, the implications about Ryu's uncle.)

i gotta say it can be really tiresome when a character or a story resonates with my aroace experience only for it to be dismissed as queerbait. a character can go an entire story without labeling their sexuality, but as long as they kiss someone of the same sex, they're recognized as queer. but a character can seemingly only ever be viewed as ace or aro if it's explicitly mentioned in dialogue.

someone looks uncomfortable while kissing his love interest? queerbait.

someone pulls away from physical affection from his boyfriend? queerbait.

a character has a platonic soulmate? queerbait.

two men view each other as "more than friends" but their love isn't romantic? cowards.

two adult women have been dating for a year and haven't had sex with each other yet? absolutely unbelievable portrayal of lesbians.

it's always "ace people are queer too" until a guy doesn't want to kiss boys, then he's homophobic.

or god forbid a man and a woman kiss while agreeing that they can desire each other and depend on each other without being in a romantic relationship and the woman explicitly says she didn't even realize it was an option to just not date anyone for the rest of your life. but "it's a shame about the heterosexuality." like you didn't even have to squint to see the aromanticism in ikoku nikki but WHATEVER I'M NOT BITTER

like it's just really frustrating when half the time i feel ostracized from a loud and obnoxious subset of the aroace community that hates all forms of sex and shipping. and the other half of the time any character that could possibly be interpreted as ace gets ridiculed as queerbait or called het.

like somehow people are able to recognize that intimacy coordinators are important, that a lot of work has to go into making sure that actors feel safe and comfortable while filming intimate scenes. and yet people can't seem to recognize that if an actor actually looks uncomfortable while filming an intimate scene, it could be for a multitude of reasons other than them being a homophobe who can't even act.

this doesn't even get into cultural differences around physical affection but i've given up on getting people to accept that lol. i just wish ppl could view physicality as a spectrum and understand that there will be moments when even a very physically affectionate person will want to pull away from intimacy or from romantic overtures without getting their queer card revoked.

like i'm not gonna go around arguing that every platonic relationship is "secretly aroace, actually." i'm just saying it's tiresome and frustrating and it stings a little when i see something reflect my personal queer experience only for it to get rejected as being queer.

Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.

That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit.
