The last couple of weeks I rewatched the early episodes of Make Up With Mud as I practiced gif making and prepared to finish out the series. And tonight I started Cinderella Closet by watching the first episode, and ... watching these two shows simultaneously is going to be a trip 😅.

Like, which meek mouse with a heart of gold that's stuck in a dead end job do I want to watch today?

They both want to learn about makeup. So that can't be a deciding factor.

"Red" lipstick it is either way. Style can't be the decision maker either.

They both really need to learn to love themselves. No help there.

Maybe I could decide based on our girls' bad taste in men. One of these is DEFINITELY worse than the other. All jokes aside, Miku (Make Up With Mud) is in a seriously abusive relationship.

But I know myself. Neither the meek mouse nor her bad taste in men are the reason I cued up these shows.

So do I want the sweet and supportive crossdresser (Eve)?

Or do I want the spicy and sassy one (Hikaru)?

I mean, I agree with our girls, they're both fabulous and fashionable.

And even though our ladies are a bit slow on the uptake.

It does look like both of our men are going to be in it to win it.

So which to watch?

Obviously...BOTH.

You didn't seriously expect me to choose between Eve and Hikaru did you? I have eyes 👀, and I plan on using them.

Note: In all seriousness, despite the many parallels, these shows have two completely different vibes. If you are interested, there's a more critical review/take below the cut.

At this point, I've only watched one episode of Cinderella Closet. It's too early to tell for sure, but it looks like it will be the better show in terms of playfulness, character development, and nuance. The female lead in Cinderella Closet is a very young adult who has got busy and forgotten to prioritize herself. She is trying to find her footing as she moves into adulthood. She is insecure, but she isn't a doormat. All of the characters have a lot of personality. Hikaru, our crossdresser, is going to force her to look hard at her life. But he's no therapist. Love the sass.

Make Up With Mud pulls on me for a lot of personal reasons but it is not nuanced at ALL. It delivers its messages with a hammer to your head. The female lead in Make Up With Mud is a doormat in an abusive relationship who is learning to steel her spine for the first time. If you need sound bytes of encouraging messages that leave no room for misinterpretation, then Eve, our crossdresser, is a very patient and kind therapist. We all need an Eve in our life.

In short, VERY different vibes.

Be advised that this drama has a lot of on screen text. A Lot. Considering that it only has 4 episodes, the on screen text is part of the story telling, so it's only right to translate them as well.

And that means a lot of the time you'll find the screen to be very distracting. I tried my best making the subs look nice, but to be honest I don't think I did a pretty good job.

MouPapa is a really good story with very realistic characters. Despite it being short, the plot doesn't feel rushed at all. I really hope you'll enjoy watching it.
