FFXIV Write 2020 #30: Splinter
(A/N: The final piece! I’m glad to have made it this far and tried to write something for most prompts. :D A short finale, and a bittersweet note to end it...
Set after the finale of Shadowbringers 5.0.
Prompt idea came from the idea of the reflections of the source being like splinters off the whole, and the Ascian idea that rejoining remake that whole. As well as a little hinty at some feels maybe?? I’d implied it in a post (tags more like but still) a while back, but of course, nothing could come of it in context :’)
I’ll revisit this relationship another day outside of ffxivwrite

The way Emet-Selch had said it, rejoining were meant to be about making the souls of the Source all the more whole. And while the First had been spared the fate of a rejoining, what she had went through was close enough to one. Wasn’t it?
Ardbert by her side, offering his strength to strike down the foe threatening his home. He’d already long lamented his part in bringing about the troubles that plagued it, but in the end, he stood with her, for the sake of his home.
His power, merged with her own, gave her the final push to survive, and cast down Hades, to protect her friends, her loved ones. To save their friends. And his home.
That day, Fufu had become a piece more whole, if she followed the Ascians’ rhetoric. And yet her heart ached like a piece of it had torn off instead. Like her side had gone cold with the absence of a close friend...or--
