This program isn't anything we haven't seen before. In fact, they're all kind of blurring together...
But, I don't think I'm entirely interested in going here. After reading Chicago's website, this school just seems lackluster. They do have an emphasis on cultural history, knowledge formation, creativity, media, and criticism, but their teaching requirements seem a little steep. Most schools give students the fourth year off so that they can work on their dissertation, whereas Pitt requires you to keep on chugging along. While this may provide some structural benefit to keep me organized, I think it would be incredibly exhausting. And my poor students that semester! Not only would I hate them, I would probably never get their papers back on time...
All in all, this school doesn't offer anything incredibly interesting. Except for the university press. According to Wikipedia, the University of Pittsburgh Press is a major American press. However, it looks like the majority of their publications are poetry (which I could take or leave).
I don't think I'm going to keep this one on the list. It just didn't excite me.
