the hamlet play I was at, before the show started the guy playing claudius was walking around and handing out stickers with his face on it to anyone who agreed to be a 'royalist' who supported his rule. 10/10, no notes, wonderful staging

Hamlet and Hamlet Sr. are obviously both antishippers because they both think incest is worse than murder. However what is often overlooked is that Claudius is also an antishipper because he needs to rationalize his own actions as Not Problematic to keep existing. Inspired by Vincenzo Camuccini's Death of Julius Caesar painting, we have a bunch of Hamlets ganging up on King Claudius as the court of Elsinore (plus one extra Getrude and Polonius) watch in horror and/or shock. Meanwhile, the other Claudius realizes that he's very screwed.
