Who am I?

Figured, I should get along to making an intro post lol

Heya, the name's CG and I'm a history nerd with a fondness for classic literature, especially the Great Gatsby and the works of William Shakespeare.

Am an adult enby gal, AuADHD, and bi-sapphic. I like women. A lot. I think that part becomes quite obvious once you get to know me.

I also draw and write stuff, so there's #cg's art, #cg's writing, and #cg's ocs for those if you wanna check it out. I'd been getting into the habit of tagging stuff I reblog, so there's that. I try my best to tag posts that might be triggering to others but if I slip up, please let me know.

Doctors are to black women what police officers are to black men. That may seem controversial but I believe it to be true and I speak from personal experience.

If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.

And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.

So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:

I will need you to document on record that you are refusing the treatment (or medicine) I've requested, and the reason you are doing so."

This works. I have used it in other situations. If medical staff have to document and take responsibility and be on the hook legally for doing shady shit they behave much differently.

If you weren’t already going to spread this advice because black women are at risk, then spread it because it’s applicable to everyone else as well, including you reading this.

But particularly women, and especially black women.

sometimes i feel bad for having mostly female ocs and then i remember the large amount of people who are so obsessed with men and mlm ships exclusively to the effect of rampant violent misogyny so i think im ok

Yes Mike Flanagan’s imagining of Carrie is fundamentally cowardly and spineless and tasteless and misogynistic but I think we need to acknowledge that 2026 Carrie could never work because 2026 Margaret White isn’t sending her kid to public school she’s doing IBLP homeschooling and still somehow suing the local school district for carrying books in their library that say “gender”

The idiocy in your first sentence aside in the tv snow Carrie’s mother has essentially kept her captive her whole life not allowing anyone to know she exists . Only after Carrie’s father dies goes the figment discover the existence of Carrie and she is forced to be send to public school

Yeah that’s my point. Carrie is a slow burn about a girl who has suffered years of torment without a single outlet or place of safety. She is tortured at home, she is tortured at school, and it’s been this way for YEARS. A Carrie that’s new to public school doesn’t work, which is why I said a 2026 Carrie would be almost impossible to pull off. 2026 wouldn’t create the conditions for a Carrie.

Exactly . The constantly tortured thing has already been covered by the OG movie and remakes . Here we have a different trauma being smothered by toxic love and living in isolation followed by losing one of the only two people you have ever known write being shoved into essentially alien world and experience so many new things many of them involving cruelty and humiliation. This kind of journey fits much better with a tv show format where you will truly slow burn to cover 8-10 episodes . And it also resonated much better for its 2026 setting . So I disagree . To me those are the perfect conditions
