“    i know things are different now  -------   ”      steve cuts himself off before he can finish   ,       but i’ll always be here for you     is what he wanted to say.    steve is well aware that common sense flies out the window whenever his best friend is involved ,      100 plus years and that plucky kid from brooklyn who picked fights for the smallest reasons was still there underneath all the serum .         but for some reason he can’t fathom ,     he can’t bring himself to say the one thing that he wants to .     i should’ve looked for you .     i should’ve known .

Yugi pressed his face into Joey’s chest. “I’m not afraid of people seeing me vulnerable. I don’t want you to see me vulnerable.” He sat up suddenly, his hand on Joey’s thigh. “That sounded wrong. I mean,” he sighed. “I don’t like you seeing me vulnerable because I don’t want you to think I can’t be here for you. I can always be here for you.” He bit his lip, nestling his head back against him. “I know, I know, we’re meant to be talking about me and my feelings right now.”
