Two weeks later and I’m still hyped. MAGFest was amazing. I’ve been avoiding writing this overwhelming post-mortem, so I’ll stick to some photos, videos, & fun facts to summarize my first MAGFest, over a couple of posts.
One of the developers, Jesse (SmashRiot), wrote a tutorial on how to make a 24-hour game box that could be locked and left unattended for players to stop by and demo games overnight. Thanks to his design, I went ahead and built one myself!
The gamebox provided some interesting data, which I’ll cover in depth in another post... eventually... Shout-outs to Jesse because he’s a helpful and humble developer!
I ran two tournaments over the weekend, which was very exciting to say the least. I haven’t had a chance to run a tournament for the game yet, so seeing some high stakes play was enjoyable.
I sat in the middle of both screens for the tournament. I couldn’t help myself.
The top three players of the first tournament certainly provided some entertaining competition!
I’m not the best player of my own game. This guy over took me to school in my own game. It’s fine (it’s not).
Tournament two brought in a fresh crowd of players, as well as returning experienced players.
I’ll be posting some videos next!
