MAGFest 2017, part 1
Two weeks later and I’m still hyped. MAGFest was amazing. I’ve been avoiding writing this overwhelming post-mortem, so I’ll stick to some photos, videos, & fun facts to summarize my first MAGFest, over a couple of posts.
One of the developers, Jesse (SmashRiot), wrote a tutorial on how to make a 24-hour game box that could be locked and left unattended for players to stop by and demo games overnight. Thanks to his design, I went ahead and built one myself!
The gamebox provided some interesting data, which I’ll cover in depth in another post... eventually... Shout-outs to Jesse because he’s a helpful and humble developer!
I ran two tournaments over the weekend, which was very exciting to say the least. I haven’t had a chance to run a tournament for the game yet, so seeing some high stakes play was enjoyable.
I sat in the middle of both screens for the tournament. I couldn’t help myself.
The top three players of the first tournament certainly provided some entertaining competition!
I’m not the best player of my own game. This guy over took me to school in my own game. It’s fine (it’s not).
Tournament two brought in a fresh crowd of players, as well as returning experienced players.
I’ll be posting some videos next!

First update!
Version 2017.01.12.00
Bug Fixes
Check if shaders are compiled for Icy stage effect. If drivers are not installed, shaders don’t work!
General
Updated boot text
Added a support key on the Options menu
Added Hard Reset button combo (Press A+B+Start+Select)
Main menus now accept Start button as a confirmation
Game mode displayed on Character Select screen
Controls screen indicates dash/catch mechanic, item order
Match Start screen displays area & stage name
Game mode screens cleaned up, removed Class Change
Boot chimes a sound effect
Notes
It appears that the game sometimes does not display in the taskbar, and that has led to some players trying to load the game multiple times. A sound effect plays in an effort to prevent this while a better solution is found.

Merry Christmas, and happy holidays! I do realize this is a day late, but ya know, I’ve got a family too. Cheers!
Hello world!
The abridged story is that I’ve been working on this game since August 2015. It’s come a long way.
This is the (new) development blog!
This is a one-man show, so hang tight, stay tuned!
