DWYER vs. NAESALA @rebcrnfate vs. @kingkilvas

Coin Toss: Naesala strikes first

“I will admit, of all the transformative warriors, I did not expect the one who turns into a raven to be in the finals. Yesterday, King Naesala faced a manakete, but can he size up to a Vallite dragon?”

“Dwyer has yet to face a raven in the competition, which does put him at a slight disadvantage compared to Naesala who now has experience with dragon-shifters. Still, as Emm mentioned, our Vallite competitor has his fair share of differences - will they be enough?”

NAESALA: 11 strike v. 6 defense

The Kilvasi king takes off into the air, quickly striking Dwyer with his talons as he glides over the arena. Dwyer stays in his dragon form.

DWYER: 14 strike v. 10 defense

Naesala might be able to fly, but as a dragon, Dwyer has some height on him, and as the raven king takes to the air, Dwyer rears up and trikes his wing, knocking the raven to wobble in the air. Naesala stays in his bird form.

NAESALA: 4 strike v. 7 defense

Faltering in his flight, Naesala tries to strike out, but cannot reach Dwyer without putting himself at risk. 

DWYER: 5 strike v. 18 defense

As the raven stays wide, Dwyer rears again to strike, but misses.

NAESALA: 4 strike v. 10 defense

Naesala swoops down, and it looks like he is about to hit! But the pin that Dwyer has, a favor given to him, glints in the sunlight and Naesala is distracted and cannot land the hit.

DWYER: 7 strike (Anemone) v. 14 defense

When Naesala swerved as he tried to strike, Dwyer misses when he tries to smack down the raven with his front legs.

“This match is so close! Both of them have scored against one another... I’m not sure who will win, Chrom.”

“They started out pretty aggressively, but Naesala soon got out of the way. It seems he’s taking this fight seriously.”

NAESALA: 18 strike v. 17 defense

Naesala lets out a prideful ‘CAW’ as he makes a circle around he audience. The crowd begins to cheer and whoop louder, getting very invested in this fight. As he spurs on the crowds, Naesala adjusts his talon and the beaded bracelet on it. He was given the favor by those he cared for, and it inspires him as he dives back into the center and strikes against Dwyer.

DWYER: 6 strike v. 17 defense

The dragon lets out a roar, and swings a leg to try and grab at Naesala, but misses, and the raven zips out of reach again.

NAESALA: 3 strike v. 14 defense

Another attempt at a diving attack, but Dwyer sees him coming and moves his long neck to the side in avoidance.

DWYER: 11 strike v. 4

Dwyer rears up and gets one last swipe, tying up the match--

TIE BREAKER: Naesala- 15 ; Dwyer- 13

“Look! King Naesala has gotten a third hit in right before the bell! He’s won!”

“He really did sound like a bird for a second there, didn’t he? Too bad for Dwyer: he only just missed that final strike. Naesala is our clawed champion!”

Before the two warriors leave the arena, they are ushered to the judges’ box. Dwyer is presented with a circlet made of silver flowers, his second place prize. King Naesala is crowned with the golden circlet of flowers.

KING NAESALA IS THE CLASH OF CLAWS CHAMPION!!!

     He may or may not be dying of laughter at the moment, that was likely one of the funniest things he’s seen. Beorc who got worked up over ‘cheating’ with the Bird clans and flying were always amusing.

     “Well, you certainly would have won that one without a favour at least.”

Claws Round 2: Ranulf vs Naesala

@felisxmagister vs. @kingkilvas Coin Toss: Ranulf strike first

“Someone sent me a note warning me that this match might get heated... Apparently, in Tellius, there are some old aggressions between the different Laguz tribes. Oh dear. I hope they don’t get as impassioned as King Ephraim and General Valter did.”

“Given the way Naesala toyed with Charlotte yesterday, I can see how he might get on Ranulf’s bad side. Assuming he behaves as he did last round, anyway.”

“Ah, here they are now! Ranulf, our familiar cobalt cat, and King Naesala, the... rather sassy raven.”

RANULF:  NAT 20 STRIKE v. 16 defense

Before Naesala has the chance to take off and gain any kind of aerial advantage, Ranulf pounces on him, as if he were really prey, and grapples him with his front paws, while his back ones come up to kick across Naesala’s feathered belly not once, but twice! Double hit!

NAESALA: 15 strike v. 7 defense

He did not take kindly to being a cat’s plaything and quickly kicks Ranulf off before cawing and taking off in an aerial strike. It knocks Ranulf back strongly enough to break his concentration and he changes back into a human form.

RANULF: 11 strike v. 4 defense

He straight up punched a giant bird with his fist.

NAESALA: 10 strike v. 3 defense

RANULF: 6 strike v. 19 defense

NAESALA: 13 strike v. 5 defense

“Well, this certainly had a heated start! But now King Naesala has taken to the air, and the match seems to slow its pace as both of them think tactically.”

“Gods, I didn’t think he’d just punch the guy!”

RANULF: 4 strike v. 3 defense

As Naesala swoops down again, Ranulf grabs his wing and jerks him down. The impact breaks Naesala’s concentration, and he too transforms back into his human form, cursing all the while.

NAESALA: 17 strike v. 5 defense

RANULF: NAT 1 STRIKE v. NAT 20 DEFENSE

Raulf moves in to strike, but Naesala sees his angle and ducks, shifting out of the way and pivoting on his heel to get at Ranulf’s back. He swiftly shoves the Gallian forward, making him fall on the ground with an ‘oof!’

NAESALA: 3 strike v. 16 defense

“There’s the saying, ‘fighting like cats and dogs.’ But now we have ‘fighting like cats and birds!’ “

“It looks like this bird didn’t become a cat’s prey - Naesala goes through to the semi-finals!”

NAESALA VICTORY!!!

Claws Round 3: Tiki vs Naesala

@akanxia vs. @kingkilvas Coin Toss:Tiki strikes first

“Both of our competitors have chosen to fly into the arena today, and... well, this looks just as one might expect a fight between a dragon and a raven to look. Decisively one-sided.”

“We’ve seen Naesala fight not once, but twice. You still choose to say that? I hope he doesn’t somehow decide to ruin your dress in revenge for that comment.”

TIKI: 13 strike v. 11 defense

Before Naesala can bolt into the air, Tiki swipes at him and gets a hit in. He stays in his bird form, though looks a bit shaken by the effective slap to the face he has just received from a large manakete.

NAESALA: 12 strike v. 11 defense (Anemone)

TIKI: 18 strike v. 6 defense

Tiki takes to air after Naesala makes a swooping strke against her. They both glide and dive around one another, making for a stunning aerial battle that the audience is excited to watch. Tiki makes a turning move and as Naesala tries to make a strike against her, Tiki instead smacks him with her tail.

NAESALA: 13 strike v. 4 defense

As he’s hit with a long manakete tail, Naesala grabs ahold with his talons, and he makes a dive for the ground, pulling Tiki down to hit the ground again. This breaks Tiki’s concentration and she reverts back to her human form.

“Oh my! Lady Tiki has changed back! This could put her at a disadvantage for the rest of the fight--”

“This isn’t looking good for her, but we have had other miracles occur today. That, and she is Naga’s voice: she still can pull through.”

TIKI: 5 strike v 3 strike

Despite being in a smaller body now, Tiki gives no ground. She grapples the raven by grabbing his tail feathers and pulling him to the ground swiftly.

NAESALA: 12 strike v. 8 defense

TIKI: 5 strike v. 11 defense

NAESALA: 4 strike v. 3 defense

TIKI: 19 strike v. 14 defense

Naesala lands, moving to pin Tiki to the ground. But she grabs onto both his legs, tackling the large bird to the ground. He lets out a rough ‘CAW’ and reverts back into his human form, huffing and pushing her off again.

NAESALA: 3 strike v. 7 defense

TIE BREAKER: As both fighters move in for one last strike, the audience watches with baited breath. Its all tied up, and both of them swing a last punch, trying to land a hit. Tiki’s fist glances past Naesala’s shoulder, but the raven king’s hit connects, and even HE is taken aback as the bell rings and he is declared a winner. Clearly, not even he expected that.

“My goodness, what a fight! They both only ever missed one hit each, Chrom, that’s incredible!”

“Tiki thought well in her human form; her lengthy life experience really shone through. Still, Naesala  reaches the final to face Dwyer!”

NAESALA VICTORY!!!

we used to be best friends as kids, rey. NOW YOU REMEMBER WHY.

     There was a quiet pause as his snickering stopped. “Perhaps we could be so close again.” Was he offering to bury the hatchet? Yes actually.
