          she’s   been   able   to   distract   herself   for   the   past   few   months,    throwing   herself   into   her   work    &    the   restaurant   so    thoughts   of   Carter   don’t   overwhelm   her   until   she’s   trying   to   sleep.    heart   aches   painfully   in   her   chest   but   Ravenna   pushes   through   it,    if   anything   for   Silas    &    Jace’s   sake,    hoping   one   day   soon   it’ll   get   easier.    as   her   eyes   scan   through   the   paperwork   on   her   desk,    attempting   to   finalize    a    few   of   the   contracts,    her    phone   rings   once   before   the   hostess’   voice   comes   through   the   speaker.    ❝   miss   Astrape ?    there’s   someone   here   to   see   you.  ❞    checking    the   clock,    brows   furrow        she   didn’t   have   any   meetings   planned   for   today.    ❝  you   can   send   them   to   my   office.  ❞

          organizing   the   papers   into   a   pile,    Ravenna   looks   up   when   the   door   opens    &    her   heart   stops,    smile   fading   slowly   as   Carter   walks   into   the   room.    ❝  been   a   while.  ❞    clearing   her   throat,    heels   clack   against   the   hardwood   floor   as   she   rounds   her   desk   to   perch   herself   on   the   edge.    she   has   to   fight   the   urge   to   run   to   him,    arms   crossing   under   her   breast    &    nails   dig   into   her   sides.    ❝  business   going   well ?  ❞    she   doesn’t   know   how   to   navigate   these   waters   with   him,    the   small - talk    &    acting   as   if    they’re   strangers,   like   her   heart   doesn’t   completely   belong   to   him.

Oh yeah no. My dad was a fan of the show and everytime it came on I would like hide. That shit is still creepy. The worst part is I would probably like the show if I could get through the opening. It’s the imagery and that damn song.

" I lived in the woods growing up so I haven't seen a lot of movies." Malia said matter of factly. She didn't really get why people always hyped this stuff up. The more she talked to people it seemed like she'd missed like, 90% of the most critical parts of history culture while she was lost — though no one can seem to agree on what was so important. Every list was different and everything she had to see was completely different depending on who was talking.

she hums the tune her mother used to as ravenna cooks their dinner ; the orzo is simmering atop one of the burners, the veggies on another & the garlic brown sugar chicken is baking in the oven. ravenna never thought she’d be lucky enough — be loved enough — to domesticate herself. when she was younger, she wished for nothing but a partnership like her parents', then life happened & she had to let that dream go. enter carter & her heart suddenly beats again for something other than survival.

there's a curl to her lips when shadow & theo react to carter's return home ; ears perk & tails begin to wag at the sound of the front door opening before dashing from her side to greet him. happiness, warmth, glee fills her listening to their interaction, then the sound of their steps as he searches for her & smile only grows as he gets closer. she melts immediately, settling against his chest as he draws her in & wraps his arms around her waist as she sautés the veggies. a hand comes to rest atop his own, fingers slipping between his & eyes close briefly in bliss. " hi, baby. " head cants so she can look up at him, rising up on the tips of her toes to place an affectionate kiss to his jaw. " dinner will be ready soon, how was your day ? "

it felt like a stroke of luck to run into cooper again in los angeles. though they'd only worked together briefly in seattle, it's something of a comfort to see a familiar face outside of the practice. the only downfall of this little catch - up stroll is that the wind is relentless. if there's one thing she's learned since moving here, it's that the weather can be far more unpredictable than the movies would lead you to believe. hiding away from the cold wind, Micah steps a little further into the alleyway he's tucked himself into for a quick smoke on his way home. he pulls a deep drag from the joint, holding the smoke for a moment before slowly exhaling all the while watching the people walking ( or rather stumbling ) down the sidewalk at 3 in the morning, emerging from one of the various bars or clubs lining the streets of new york city. brow arches when another person ducks into the alley though he stays silent, eyeing the other as they struggle to get their lighter to work & then clears his throat, a mischievous curl to his lips as he catches their attention.
