These books are so pretty!! There is so much discourse about them, and I do agree that aspects of the trilogy are problematic. But overall I really like the books! Have any of you read the Captive Prince trilogy?

it's still early, but the sun is beating down on the city already, not exactly ideal for a heretic when they get sick from being in the sun. in the winter, she walked to work, but not when it's ninety-five degrees at six in the morning. éveline was carrying a couple trays of drinks (hot coffees, iced coffees, smoothies whatever she can think people would like) as she walked into the hospital, beneath the coffees is a box of baked goods and she had already tucked into on her way in. "mornin' y'all..." said through another yawn, the new orleans drawl heavier than it would be later in the day. "i brought... stuff... i'll put it in the lounge" she held it all up, it's something she'd done every friday morning since she started at the hospital years ago. as she turned around, she nearly bumped into @kingrising "oh my god i'm so sorry, are you okay?" evvie looked up, of course she did she's barely over five feet, she looked up at everyone. "i brought treats... whatever you'd like" she smiled softly.

"welcome to the friday tradition. whenever i work a friday, it's treats from bitty and beau's, if you have anything you'd like me to specifically get for you just let me know. i'll get whatever you like." being from new orleans and living through decade after decade, food had become a love language for her, something she expressed in either her own cooking or when she completed her usual friday treats. "although i have to admit, wednesday is my favourite because i bring in homemade gumbo. one of my favourites my mama used to make."
