I got to try out another Kingsyard feeder, and this one is a nice and well-made ground feeder. It has a mesh insert so rain is not an issue, and it has a pretty good size. I think this will be great in the winter. For now, I used it on the lawn and got some hilarious night scenes. Skunks are so funny, their "butt of war" reminds me of quarrels with my sisters when we were kids 😆
The first recorded instance of bird feeding is ascribed to a 6th century monk in Scotland. Though the practice (perhaps not always intentionally) likely stretches back to the advent of agriculture.

I've been filling the Kingsyard box with black walnuts every day, and many squirrels came and took them out. One of them seemed to have issues figuring it out, and of course it was a tiny haggard little guy and I kept looking for his progress and made it my mission to help him learn. I would put a nut right under the lid to lift it, and pile them up so much the lid would lift, so he knows that it can. And yesterday, he finally figured it out. It was quite the process and but he did it! I am so proud of him, and I hope he will be nice and fat and shiny soon.
I got to try out another Kingsyard feeder, and this one's a doozy if you have several birds that go bonkers for grape jelly. The bickering gets reduced and everyone gets to snack in peace! I like that the cups are made of glass and not too big and that the feeder is made from that recycled plastic, so it's easy to clean and does not deteriorate in the weather. They are all so ridiculously funny 😆 (I think you get a discount with the code OSTDROSSEL but I am not sure.)
Kingsyard sent me another feeder to try, and this one is fun because it's a critter feeder! I filled it with seeds and Black Walnuts (I got tons from last year still that have been curing) and waited for them to figure it out. It took a couple of days, but they did! Chipmunk first and then a squirrel parade 😆 You can take the screen out for easy cleaning and lid and front are flexible. For a discount in their Amazon shop, use OSTDROSSEL.
