BLCD Review: Bokura wa Sore wo Koi to Yobu

Synopsis: Koga and Minogawa are deemed as their own department’s hope and are constantly compared to each other. Minogawa in particular seemed colder to Koga than any of their other workmates. On a drinking party to which both of them attended, Koga hears a rumor that Minogawa isn’t good with women and after sending one of their drunk coworkers home, Minogawa asks him about this rumour as it was clear that Koga was bothered so he confesses. Minogawa asks Koga if he wants to confirm the rumors to which Koga agrees to but wait, wasn’t Koga the one who was going to be on top? So why was he the one being pushed down now? “If you really want to see if I’m no good then, shouldn’t you be the one playing the role of a woman?”

Review Proper

First off, I’d like to apologize as I’ve mistranslated my initial synopsis and I’ve even misread Minogawa as Furukawa. 🙇 I did update the synopsis and edited it a little bit and I know it sucks but I frankly could care less about that. 🤷

I’ll just jump into the technicalities because there’s no plot and character personality to talk about. 🙊 For however shit the plot was, I still hoped that somehow the execution could somehow save the whole thing but it was honestly disappointing - it was like listening to Filipino dubbed anime. Like come on, how did this even pass the producers??? It was so lack-luster, sub-par, and overall a drag to listen to.

The voice work was bad. There are rise and falls which are oddly placed all throughout the CD and there seems to be an issue with the mic - Itou Kento’s in particular, since his voice sounds so far from it. Idk. Even if I put the volume on 70, it still sounds low and I don’t recommend you go higher because it might be bad for your ears. In terms of the acting itself -

It wasn’t a good day for the both of them but Komada Wataru obviously is having the worst. 😞 Komada Wataru is new to both the anime and BL scene so I do understand and as usual, I’ve nothing but hope and support for him in his future endeavors. 👌 Itou Kento on the other hand, has been active in the BL scene since last year so I expected him to be less green behind the ears and he was but not by much. This is his second BLCD in 2018 though, and he did give a better performance here than Chic na Megane no Koi and he’s improved a lot after Koubutsu wa Kossori Kakushite Hara no Naka which was recorded and released four months after this CD. I guess it’s just really the studio that messed up this time. 🤷

So we have awful generic plot with no climax whatsoever, bad plot execution and character development, disappointing voice work, almost zero cast chemistry, and awkward mattress mambo. I initially thought that this was going to be on the same level as Savile Row no Yuuwaku but that would be an insult to Tachibana Shinnosuke and Okitsu Kazuyuki. Don’t buy this. If you’re curious please just read this and don’t listen to it. I honestly could have done something more productive with the time I’ve spent listening to this.
