Your feelings are complicated, far too complicated you feel. Switching between numbness and anger, you feel that you rarely experience positive emotions in the first place. These drastic mood swings make you feel like you’re on a rollercoaster, switching between extremes on a moments notice. Small things trigger you easily, but especially things that remind you of them. They’re everything to you, your entire world and reason for living, but at the same time you resent them. Hate them, even. You try to convince yourself that you don’t, but when you’re angry, boy, you’re fucking pissed— especially at them. Because they give you, but not enough, it’s never enough. They know what you need and they refuse to provide you with it. They know how much it hurts but it feels like they’ll never stop taunting you with promises of their presence and company, only to go to voicemail and have your plans canceled on you. You refuse to beg for bare minimum, but God, sometimes you sure consider it. But that’s below you. You have standards, but oddly enough, they don’t seem to apply to other people. You can’t bring yourself to expect more than what they currently provide you, mostly because you feel that you don’t deserve it. You don’t feel like you deserve anything at all, because you feel like such a horrible person— It’s this feeling rooted deep inside you, that if they’re as angelic as they are, then you can’t possibly be considered a good person if you’re nothing like them. Still, you find that the worst parts of them seem to be reflected in you; another sign that you’re damaged and unworthy of love. Everything you hate in them becomes a part of you, and as much as you’re sick of it, you don’t know how to stop being like them. You don’t know who you are without them, and you feel a lot of your personality is based off of them. Liking what they like, disliking what they dislike, all so that they might love you. Might pay attention to you. But you’ve stopped expecting responses from them by now. You’re tired of expecting and expecting and having your expectations failed time after time. It hurts, as much as you hate to admit it— You feel that admitting pain is a sign of weakness, after all. But you have to be tough to take the treatment they give you, and you can’t let them know how you feel either. You feel you can’t let anyone know about the vicious moods you go through— you would rather just struggle alone—, and how you can’t bring yourself to admit that you hate them to their face. Because above all else, you’re terrified of being alone. Being without them is terrifying, yes, you don’t know who you are without their presence, without their personality to reflect— But being alone, without anyone at all, feels scary. On one hand you feel you would not mind it; no disappointment, no mistreatment, no overly critical views of yourself. At the same time, though, you feel that being alone could be the end of you. You hate to admit that you need people, that you need anyone at all (that’s weak of you), but without them you feel incredibly… Lost. At peace, yes, but horrifyingly empty. It feels like there is no today as there is no tomorrow, you’re so disconnected from life without human connection that you go on autopilot every day. As much as you feel you don’t deserve these connections, god you crave them. But letting anyone know would be crossing your own standards. What are these standards, you may ask? Why of course, the rules you’ve made in your own mind based on others treatment of you. That, should you cross these rules, you’ll surely be unloved. Holding yourself to such a high standard to be loved, but no standard at all that others love you, you know it seems unfair. Yet still, you feel that every mistake you’ve ever made has added up to this treatment of yours. Your deep shame and guilt over the most minor mistakes you’ve made in your life— unable to live them down, you simply accept how that special person treats you. Anything to make them stay. Anything to make them pay attention to you. You’d do anything, anything at all if they would just spend some time with you, just appreciate you. Terrified of abandonment, yet in denial over this fact, you just live coping with your never ending disappointment in others. You wish they were enough for you, but it feels impossible to achieve. If you relate to this analysis of Akutagawa, I sincerely apologize for how these people have been treating you. You deserve better, I promise. You almost 100% probably have BPD, PTSD, depression, and a dissociative disorder.
