She didn’t know what sort of man Senju Hashirama was underneath his reputation, but she was prepared for the worst. Better to be pleasantly surprised than unhappily shocked was her reasoning; if he turned out to be a decent man, that was good. But even if he were the worst monster, that wouldn’t change her path.
The contract between their clans was clear -- for the price of one Uzumaki bride for a Senju man, forever would their clans hold hands in friendship. Mito wasn’t the eldest but she was unmarried and near the age of Senju Hashirama. Duty was her burden and her pride.
Konohagakure was coming along faster than she expected. Then again, maybe it was easier for a man who could control forests. She examined the wooden buildings and felt a pang of homesickness. Konoha was beautiful for a new home -- airy, green, and alive -- but it wasn’t Uzushio. These buildings were young. The air no longer smelled like salt.
Today was the day she’d meet her betrothed, months after her father negotiated the contract. In preparation, Mito put on everything that reminded her of home and drank sake with her breakfast. By the time she arrived in the Senju estate, her nerves were as still as the ocean on a calm day. She was as ready as she would ever be.
“Senju-sama,” she said in greeting. “It’s good to finally meet you.”
@kinokami replied to your post “He is gone for a day. A day. And he has already been accused of...”
Are you dating Izuna? ;3
“I give one gift and you ask that, anija.” A sigh leaves his lips.
Nothing Like You

Senju Hatsumomo was a good mother, but not a kind one, though that had not always been so. After gifting life to her first-born son, she fed him herself for the first few days, held him close, had him sleep in her bed with him. Loved him, as far as she was capable.
Things changed when her husband returned.
When Butsuma’s dark eyes fell on the unnatural whiteness of his first trueborn son’s skin and hair, he had said nothing. He’d held the infant carefully, but with some reserve. It didn’t please him that his heir should resemble his mother more than his father, but he accepted it. He had chosen Hatsumomo after all, from the selection of women the Senju Elders had deemed suitable. This was his son.
But then the boy opened his eyes, red like the blood he would learn to spill on the battlefield, and Butsuma’s reaction was to hold the newborn away from him, his own eyes wide. A boy like this, his boy, could not have eyes like that. Could not have eyes that would remind every single Senju clansman of their mortal enemies and their unholy gift.
The child looked at him with a strange sort of intelligence. He didn’t cry, though it must feel the lack of security in the hold he had on him. Butsuma stared at him, his heart torn between love and disgust.
It must have reflected in his face and Hatsumomo was a clever woman, fiercely intelligent, because she understood what it meant and acted accordingly. Instead of taking the boy back to her own breast, she nodded at the maid standing by her bed to take him.
Ever since then, Hatsumomo would only sometimes visit him, when he was asleep mostly. She would rarely touch him, afraid of rekindling a bond she had cut actively for her own sake and that of her pride.
She would give Butsuma better sons than this one, she knew that in her head, but her heart whispered that this was her firstborn, and he would always be special.
The boy was left with the wetnurses and Hatsumomo was still a good mother, even if she was not there for him herself. She had assured herself of the capabilities of the women that handled him, made sure he was given the best care. It was the least she could do. But she refused any kindness towards the child.
Tobirama first learned kindness from his brother. Half-brother, but neither of them were old enough to understand the concept fully. Unlike Hatsumomo, the women in charge of the boy’s care actively encouraged Hashirama to come visit his little brother, to hold him and play with him.
One day, the nameless child had just lived past his third month, Kasumi was called to help out with medical care for the wounded after yet another devastating battle between Senju and Uchiha.
As the boy’s maid she was responsible for his good health, but she had seen Hashirama interact with him, had witnessed how gentle he was with his little brother as if he was a precious flower. She called for him, he was never far from his brother, and pushed the bundle of blankets with the pale face inside of it into Hashirama’s arms.
“You have to take care of him, young lord.” She said, tone serious but soft, “I’m leaving him in your hands until I return. Make sure that he is safe at all times.”

DEATH IN BATTLE WAS THE ONLY GOOD DEATH FOR A NINJA / but the Senju bastards saw to rob her of even that. Had it not been for the gag placed tightly in her mouth , Minami would have bit off her tongue so she could bleed out , for the chakra bindings her captors wrapped around her meant the Blood Release wouldn't be able to replace what she lost. Suicide was preferable to torture --- but the Senju had done well to keep her escape from her. Despite Minami's best efforts , it seemed that Hell would be the only thing in her future.
SHINOBI WERE TO BE PREPARED FOR ANYTHING / but how could someone prepare for undeniable agony ? No matter how much one expected it , pain was inevitable. Hashirama was said to be a good man of moral nature , && all Minami could pray for was that he had the mercy to kill her before she cracked. It wasn't as if she was any stranger to being hurt , her kekkei genkai requiring routine self-mutilation , but any ninja could tell you that not all pain was the same. Sadism often surfaced in the worst of ways when presented with torture , && history had proven that people were capable of inflicting pain in endlessly , cruelly imaginative ways.
HAZEL EYES CONVEYED A THOUSAND EMOTIONS / but hatred burned the brighest as the 'devil' himself came into view. She could not talk because of the gag , but her face spoke enough without her voice : 'fuck you' was evident in her expression as she glared at Hashirama. Teeth bit down on the hard 'stick' in her mouth , some desperate part of the kunoichi still clinging onto the idea of escape. Since it was tightly secured in place by well tied straps around her head , the only way Minami would be able to get access to her tongue was by somehow breaking it.

After a few weeks of arranging himself with the current situation, Sasuke had begun to go out more. If it weren’t for Naruto and Sakura, he’d probably still be holed up in the compound, but he started to meet Naruto for training, even went to Ichiraku’s with him one time. Naruto and Sakura were one of the few people he still trusted, and he knew it was due to their support and protection that he was allowed to even be here.
The Uchiha had their home in Konoha, but after learning the entire truth, Sasuke felt quite awkward living here. It was better than being all alone again though, and if he was here, and the authorities could keep an eye on him, they were probably more at ease, which was better for him.
As long as Sasuke was keeping to himself, it was bearable. He left the people alone, and they left him alone. It was good enough. Of course he had to run right into one of the last people he wanted to see, and he was sure the feeling was mutual.
Hashirama and Tobirama had been swarmed by people who were delighted over their return, along with the other two kage and Sasuke had stayed out of their way as best as he could. Now he had crossed Hashirama’s path after all, much to his dismay.
He observed the man, waiting for Hashirama to decide how this was supposed to go. If he ignored Sasuke, Sasuke would ignore him in turn. He’d have a conversation with him if the older man started it.
