By the way, guys, just, something I’ve noticed—
You know you guys can add to anything I post, right?
I notice that a lot of you newcomers, especially, have been using the [reply] feature to respond directly to me — which is much appreciated, don’t get me wrong. But I’ve noticed that a number of you haven’t been using the [reblog] feature — not with me, and not with anyone else’s posts, either (I check your blogs from time to time lol). What reblogging does is that it basically allows you to circulate posts you like or wish to respond to directly through your own blog, and it’s often used to open up conversations to a wider audience.
Like — okay, to me, my Tumblr blog is basically the equivalent of gathering around a campfire to swap stories and ideas about the characters we all like. Whenever I make a post, that’s like me opening up a new story that other people can add to as they wish. When you reblog, it’s like you adding to the story among the group in a way that allows anyone else to easily see your addition and perhaps even give their own take. When you reply, it’s like taking me aside and telling me something that others can reply to if they want to go through the effort of actively listening in, but that’s mostly meant for my ears. (And as an aside — sending me a private ask with your own ideas is basically you whispering something to me that you want me to bring up to the group in your stead, lol.)
And don’t get me wrong, I’m not dissing replies or asks or anything like that, I appreciate those too! But by reblogging, you…kinda take the onus off of me to keep the conversation going, and — I dunno, maybe some of you would like to give it a try?
Also, just so everyone is aware: there is no time limit on when it’s appropriate to respond to posts. I understand that this is a thing on sites like Instagram or w/e but it’s REALLY not a thing here. We’ve got shit from 2013 that’s still circling around and nobody thinks it’s weird or unusual. So, if there are some posts/ideas/fanmade ifs that you wanna bring up again or add your own ideas to or whatever you like — there’s nothing stopping you from doing that. (In fact, a lot of those IFs I put on pause specifically because I wasn’t sure where to go next. So, while I can’t promise anything…by adding to it, you might inspire me to pick up some stuff I haven’t touched in a while :) )
