⭐️ #MarchMeetTheMaker Day 3: How You Started ⭐️ I’ve always been the unique and creative one growing up, even to the point it would be considered ‘weird’. I’ve also enjoyed playing ‘store’ as a kid. However, the idea of actually sharing my artwork didn’t come until 2009. I came across a Craigslist post selling of leftover inventory from a Morning Glory mall kiosk (hopefully you know what I’m talking about!) I bought it as an ‘impulse buy’ and had a lot of items I didn’t intend on using~ I wanted to find a way to destash the stuff without having to resort to yard sale. I forgot how I heard about #Kinyoobi con, but I decided to get a table. Around that same time my sister gave me an amigurumi DIY book for my bday and I wanted to make more use of that. So I started crocheting and eventually explored other types of crafts. Knowing I had a Kinyoobi table it made sense to use it to showcase my art pieces and that’s how I started! . How I got the name “Casa De Rea” didn’t come until years later! My friends had an inside joke of calling trademarked dance moves “Haus of XXXXXX” (thanks @ladyGaga!) My ‘haus’ name was ‘Casa De Rea’ 😛 Eventually anything I made (and even the fashion I wore) became ‘Casa De Rea’ originals~ So when I started my business again, it just made a lot of sense to change my name :) (plus, people weren’t getting why my store was called ‘eat soup with sticks’ or that twitter had a 14 character handle limit xDDD) (at Kin-Yoobi Con)
