fun how most of the boss fight tips for skong (and I guess hk) all comes down to:
Don't get cornered, stay in the middle and cling to walls only if necessary (special attacks)
Stay close to the boss but not too close, rely on telegraphs to dodge or counter
Punish their failed attacks when THEY get close to you, DON'T chase after them and if you must then find the openings when you can
Don't be greedy, this isn't a speedrun (unless it is but then you basically already have the boss figured out for the most part), take your time
Don't be like me and sprint/dash around too much, you'd be surprised how much just walking to reposition yourself comes in handy
Fast bosses will make you want to play fast but trust me when I say to not try to keep up with them, just figure out positioning between you and them, once again let them come to you, dodge/parry (i can't parry to save my life unless I spam wanderer's crest lol) then see if there is an opening to punish it. If there's not that's okay, there will be one! Take your time, focus on familiarizing with the telegraphs
If boss is "random bullshit go" kind of fight I can't help you there lol sorry ;u; I spammed my tools and hoped for the best
(some of these tips I got from friends and for me who has zero in game combat intuition basically carried me for most of the game BUT I also took up to two hours of retries for some bosses. My poor reaction time mixed with adrenaline had me redo bosses a lot but it really drilled them into my memory on how to behave in certain fights, I got better over time but it DOES take time and patience, so I get why these fights can be frustrating when you can't afford that for a game)
Okay I wanna ramble for a second! I was reading the manga and the moment in the Battle City finals where Yami Bakura gets switched out with Ryou during the first duel came up. And everything about that moment is sooooo interesting. Like, look at what Yugi says after the duel:
This is like a DIRECT parallel to the moment in Duelist Kingdom where Kaiba threatened to jump off the castle wall if Yami went through with his attack. Here, Ryou was in danger of dying due to the strain of getting blasted point blank by Osiris while being weakened from his injury. Two tournaments. Two opponents at risk of dying if Yami attacks. Everything is on the line.
The thing I find soooo fascinating is that in Duelist Kingdom, Yami ended up doing the attack, but here in Battle City, he's unable to. It isn't until Yami Bakura takes back over and Ryou is no longer in danger of dying that Yami is finally able to order the attack. This is direct, observable evidence of Yami learning kindness from Yugi! That's so cool!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh my goodness, the manga is so good.
