Film screening at @ganondagan Seneca Art and Culture Center today! #Repost @ganondagan ・・・ May 19, 1:30-3:30 This important #film, #LakeofBetrayal explores the history of the #KinzuaDam on the #AlleghenyRiver in #Pennsylvania and its impact on the #SenecaNation - the effects of which continue to be felt today. Completed in 1965, it was originally proposed to help mitigate flooding in the City of Pittsburg-200 miles downriver, but the 27-mile reservoir that formed behind it inundated vast tracts of Seneca #ancestral lands, forcing their removal in breach of the #CanandaiguaTreaty of 1794, the oldest US-Indian treaty in effect. This film is narrated by #GaryFarmer. In attendance will be #filmmakers Paul Lamont, Scott Sackett, and Caleb Abrams for a post-screening discussion. At the #Seneca Art & Culture Center. Cost at the door: $6/not-yet-members; $5 for Friends of Ganondagan members. This film screening was generously sponsored by Hon. John C. Ninfo, II. #documentary (at Ganondagan State Historic Site)
