Kirivan

◦ They both had a mutual crush on each other in the beginning of middle school (Kirin was kinda more unaware of his crush on Ivan while Ivan was more self aware about it)

◦ When Ivan realized he had a crush on Kirin again like serious feelings for him he went to Raf to talk about it since they mutually talk about their crushes (Raf laughed for an hour straight Ivan never brought it up again)

◦ Kirin realized his feelings for Ivan when he, Seth, and Raf were about to go on the raft and there was a chance they might never see each other again

◦ Post island Ivan assumed things will go back as it were with them not hanging out at all until Kirin sat next to him during lunch as if he always sat next to him

◦ Kirin started holding Ivan’s hand as a way to drag him along but then just started randomly holding his hand using the excuse that he wanted to look at Ivan’s rings

◦ The first time Kirin slept over Ivan’s house, Kirin cooked for Ivan and Ivan immediately made sleepovers a weekly thing ( mainly cause he loves Kirin’s cooking also because he can’t cook worth shit)

◦ Ivan’s dad loves Kirin and immediately takes him under his wing (Kirin was surprised how welcoming Ivan’s parents were to him)

◦ Ivan’s parents thought they were dating

◦ Ivan started to wait for Kirin to be done with lacrosse practice on the bleachers whenever he didn’t have theater (Kirin put more effort into practice whenever he showed up just to show off)

◦ Kirin use to think brown eyes weren’t worth staring at until he took the time to stare at Ivan’s eyes

◦ After Ivan was cast in a big role, Kirin as a ‘joke’ bought him a dozen roses to congratulate him (Ivan literally knew he was done for when Kirin did that)

◦ Kirin use to get jealous like hell over the fact Ivan was the least affectionate towards him on the island (Ivan was a bit cautious with his affection with Kirin at first cause of their past)

◦ Kirin was not subtle about his feelings and it’s a wonder how Ivan didn’t figure it out sooner

◦ Ivan was more smug than he was surprised when they started dating (“you had a crush on me? That’s so embarrassing for you” “we are literally dating”)

◦Ivan is actually way more protective of Kirin than people think

◦ They cuddle two ways; Kirin laying his head on Ivan’s stomach or Ivan’s head on Kirin’s chest

◦ Ivan calls Kirin pet names all the time but once and awhile use cringy ones to mess with him (Kirin got him back by calling him the same cringy pet names)

◦ After Kirin moved in with Ivan, he makes a habit out of making Ivan breakfast in bed on Sundays

◦ Ivan loves flustering Kirin and seeing how red he can get it became his favorite hobby

◦ Kirin’s dog was so use to Ivan being around that she didn’t even notice any difference when they got together

◦ Kirin loves messing with Ivan and finds it kinda funny seeing him get riled up (they get into playful arguments all the time)

◦ Ivan loves leaning in towards Kirin pretending like he’s about to kiss his cheek just to bite him (he’s very affectionate with him he just likes to add an element of surprise)

◦ For their anniversary, Ivan and Kirin tried to surprise each other with tickets to something the other would like on the same day

◦ Kirin proposed to Ivan when they were on vacation together and sitting on the beach

Somehow they fall back into some fractured sense of normalcy, they watch Up, and Ivan lets himself cry on the opposite end of the couch from Kirin. Kirin looks at him, worrying at his lip before turning back to the screen, leaving his palm open on the cushion between them. It takes everything in Ivan to leave it alone like he should, instead forcing himself to cling to his bracelet like a lifeline. Kirin manages to scoot his way into Ivan’s space halfway through, claiming to be cold despite being his normal human space heater self— Ivan is cold, though, and he appreciates it quietly. Eventually, they drag themselves up to the roof, Kirin’s hands constantly hovering over Ivan as he shimmies up the shingles and behind the chimney, planting his feet on it to keep from sliding. Kirin follows, dragging out their worksheet and staring at the stars, hair tousled and tickling Ivan’s shoulder. Kirin manages to keep Ivan calm with dumb jokes, points out the stars and tries his best to remember the mythos behind the constellations with just his Percy Jackson knowledge, and Ivan breathes easy as he crawls back into his window once they’re done.

Being friends with Kirin O’Connor constantly has Ivan at two extremes— breathing easy or choking on his air.

Heads up Seven Up

This took me FOREVER to write but I am so gracious to @writingpotato07 for tagging me for this (while I don't know if she tagged me for this or another writing thing it's been AWHILE)

Kirin had faint memories of his family being all together, even fainter of them being happy all together.

His mom used to drink in moderation, before she grew numb to his presence and her eyes became dull. She traveled all the time, coming back with lavious gifts and treats. At first, his dad seemed okay with the arrangement. He knew she still wanted to travel, while he always wanted family life. He always dreamed of the white picket fence life; three kids, a dog, and a big house in the suburbs. Then, he started to realize for his dream to be complete, for him to truly have the full package, he had to have a wife at home and his mother never took to being in one place at a time. He tried to get her to become what he wanted, mold her into this perfect housewife.

“So, you had a crush on him?” Henry tilts his head, his voice slowing down with each word trying to make sure Ivan caught on to what he is implying.

Ivan scrunches his nose up, “What no, what did you think that? I did not like Kirin.”

Okay, maybe looking back at it, it might not have been as normal to just randomly mesh a boy’s first name and put your last name to see if it looks good. Also, he was a big Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner stan and he refused to give up his only connection to them and take the last name O’Connor.

But it wasn’t a crush, he is sure it wasn’t.

Okay so a trend I see in a lot of Kirivan stories is that Kirin makes the first move in kissing Ivan so I have a tiny hc on that why Kirin is the one making the move, when they were younger Ivan MADE the first move but kirin pulled away so when they got older Ivan was more hesitant and less likely to make the first move based on that
