#The Untamed #Oh MAN this is such good information #I keep rewatching and listening to the Netflix thing and going... but... that's NOT WHAT THEY"RE SAYING #I first noticed with Shijie and then A-Ning and now I listen carefully for names and nicks #I want so much more info tho #I'm picking up a lot just listening and reading but I am terrified of making someone uncomfortable and I've only just started to write fic #My clarinet teacher's name was Fan Lei #and I would never have called him anything except Fan Lei or Mr. Fan and I had no idea why I just did it #So I'd never just say one of the character's first names #but it's a bit weird writing fic like that because it's so unfamiliar #but writing just their first names feels even more weird and also just WRONG #and of course by first names I mean given names #I think #even though they're not first in order the way they are in American naming #god we name things stupidly sometimes #I'm fascinated by all the nicknames and cute names and stuff #I want more of that #where can I get better subs? Netflix's are shit

tbh I don’t think there’s any one source that has subs I’m personally 100% happy with, I have things I’m not happy with from Viki and youtube, and then turns out Netflix who I thought I could trust was also Big Crimes :’) I know @/suibiansubs is doing their own ver, but given that they’re fansubbing, it’s download only/there’s no streaming hosted. Which might or might not work for you. I haven’t watched the whole thing - there def are parts I’d probably tl differently myself, but given that they’re fansubbing, I do generally trust fansubbing a bit more.

There’s also this guide someone made for terminology relating to names/forms of address, and I’ve glanced through it and I think it looks p good, so this can act as a reference for you in terms of how to approach naming and such

Oh - I was coming to say - It’s on Netflix. :) I’m now 13 episodes in and it’s still delightful. :D

How often do you write?Whenever it comes.

Do you have a routine for writing?I don’t have a set routine at all. In fact I’ve gone years before without writing and other times I’ll write multiple times a day or for hours at a time. I just have to go with the flow. If I push it, I get writer’s block, and I can’t push my way through writer’s block either.

What’s your favorite kinks/tropes/pairing?I’m into all kinks, but spanking in particular. I love domestic discipline relationships, and my favorite is discipline spanking, but erotic spanking is pretty high up there too. I love slave fic, BDSM AU, bodyswap, and all that fun stuff. I can’t pic a favorite ship. I want them all!

Do you have a favorite fic of yours?I don’t. There’s several that I’m very proud of, including CON ‘Verse and Alpha House, but I don’t really have a favorite.

Your fic with the most kudos?Tumblr Ask Box Requests has the most kudos, but that’s 40 individual fics in one. Alpha House is the single fic with the most kudos.

Anything you don’t like about your writing?I don’t like that I rush through descriptions. I worry I’m losing the reader’s interest, so I don’t put in a lot of detail/descriptions. And that’s silly because details/descriptions are interesting to me when I read fic, so I need to stop being a dork about it.

Something you do like?I really like writing dialogue. It’s easy for me and it feels like it isn’t boring to the reader so I relax when I’m doing it.

@kisahawklin *squishes you* thank you, that actually really helps a lot. You're right. I forgot to take into account the dark-ish subject matter. Which, yeah, Wincest shippers are more known for but the kinks involved definitely limits the audience more than my other stuff would. And then when you add in things like who is dominant vs who is submissive it can limit things even more. Gonna keep this in mind the next time I post a messed up thing - which shouldn't be too long from now tbh. I like dark things.
