He gets all the ladies.
I mean ALL of them.
Just one look and your heart will skip a beat.
That was the description of the famous model—Kise Ryouta.
Notice the word WAS.
Now who would NOT fall for the handsome and popular model?
It was obvious.
The high school coach of Seirin’s Basketball Club, Riko Aida.
“Kise Ryouta?
Oh yeah, him. One of the Generation of Miracles who joined Kaijou’s basketball club.” Riko answered the girls who had asked if she knew the blonde. Her attention went back to her homework since they had a free study period.
“Uh, Aida-san! You forgot a VERY IMPORTANT FACT ABOUT HIM.” One of the girls stated, somewhat annoyed by the fact that Riko talked of him as just a normal being.
“Really?” Riko responded as she solved the last problem to her math worksheet.
“He’s one of the most hottest and popular models today!!” A girl exclaimed, her cheeks beginning to glow red.
“Hmm.” The brunette nodded, obviously not interested in a fact like that.
“So, we were wondering!”
“Yes?”
“If you meet Kise-kun, could you ask for his autograph?”
“Sure…WAIT WHY ME?!”
“Because he’s on the basketball club! And I heard that your team will be having a practice game with them today—”
“You could do it yourselves—”
“Yeah..but, we’re all so busy!”
Riko closed her eyes and sighed. She couldn’t believe what these girls in her class whom she barely knew, were asking to get an autograph from an annoying guy. Well in Riko’s opinion, she thought he was. After all, at least every five minutes he would go “Kurokocchi!” in a cheerful tone or a frustrated tone.
It annoyed the heck out of her.
“Please~~~~!” The group of girls pleaded as they reached for pieces of paper and books.
“…fine.” The brunette finally agreed, causing the girls to jump up and squeal.
“Thanks, Aida-san!!!” They exclaimed together, placing the items they wanted signed on her desk.
“Yeah…”
.
After school, Riko gathered her books, papers, and finally the items her classmates wanted signed by the great, amazing, hot, dreamy, (whatever adjective to praise the model), Kise Ryouta.
As the brunette threw her bag over her shoulder and grabbed her clipboard, she began to walk to the gym in thought.
‘Again…why am I doing this?’
Then at the corner of her eye, she saw the girls who had begged her to do them a favor.
“Alright! Let’s go to that mixer!”
“OMG this is the best day ever, like a mixer AND we’re going to get Kise-kun’s autograph!”
The group of girls squealed as Riko stared in shock, her anger growing.
’…I have to go to practice.’
The coach walked over to the gym, trying to suppress her anger at the same time.
Riko slammed the doors open, causing the players inside to jump up with startled expressions.
“Hey everyone! Sorry I’m kind of late! Did you start practice already?” Riko asked. The veins that had popped on her forehead, her intense aura, and her obviously faked, bright smile made it clear she was pissed off. Her aura sent a chill down their spines causing a few to cower back.
“U-uh…actually we just started stretching. Since Kaijou will be coming today—”
Suddenly, there was a loud cracking noise, startling all the players.
“Oh, whoops! I’m going to have to get a new clipboard!” Riko’s smile widened as she threw her cracked clipboard in the trash.
“Maybe she’s on her peri—”
“IZUKI-SENPAI!”
“Kurokocchi~! Kagamicchi~! Oi~!”
The team turned their heads toward the gym door. There standing at the door was their very first rival, Kaijou. In front of the whole team was their dorky ace, waving crazily at the bluenette and the redhead.
That high-pitched tone, that childishness, Riko just couldn’t
understand what girls saw in him.
No, they didn’t even look in him. They only looked as far as his looks.
As their rivals stepped into the gyms, Riko took deep breaths in attempt to calm herself down. Once she did so,
she placed her things down on the bleachers. She stared down at the objects the girls had asked her to get signed by the blonde.
’…if I don’t do this, they probably will keep bugging me about it.
No not probably, they will.’
Riko put the objects away in her bag and ran over to her team.
[ After Scrimmage ]
“DAMMIT SO CLOSE!!”
“Tch…”
“BARELY!”
The score was definitely close.
Just when it looked like Seirin’s win, Kaijou turned it around with one shot at the last second.
Riko sighed then looked up at each of her players, a serious expression upon her face.
“Good job today, everyone!
You gave your best! Unfortunately, we didn’t push through, but we won’t let them win next time!”
“Yeah!!”
“Now, give me 3 laps!”
“Yes, Coach!!”
The team rushed out the gym, beginning to run around the whole school grounds three times.
Riko smiled due to her team’s determination. Then that smile turned upside down when she looked back at her bag.
'I guess I’ll do it now.’
Hesitantly, Riko grabbed her bag and went over to the Kaijou basketball game.
“Good game today, but we won’t lose next time.” The coach said, a confident smile upon her face.
The captain of the team turned to her and gave a smile with that similar feeling of confidence.
“Neither will we.”
Riko stared straight into his eyes, but soon her confidence wavered, surprising the captain.
“Um..before your team leaves. Could I talk to Kise-kun?”
“Hm? Oh yeah..sure.”
Kasamatsu turned to Kise, slightly annoyed by his kouhai’s popularity.
“Don’t stay too long.”
“Yes mom— OW!”
“Shut up.”
“You’re so mean, Senpai!!”
“Let’s go.” Kasamatsu said, ignoring the whining Kise.
“Uh..Kise-kun..” Riko said, not even bothering to ask him if he was alright since she was so used to seeing the captain kicking or hitting the blonde.
Immediately, Kise put on his model smile, straightened up, and turned to the coach.
“Yes? Ah! You’re Kurokocchi’s and Kagamicchi’s coach! Uh..what was your name again…?” Kise asked, his model smile turning into a clueless one. For some reason, not knowing her name irritated Riko. If she knew his name, then shouldn’t he know hers? After all, their teams were rivals.
“..Sorry, I haven’t formerly introduced myself yet.
I’m Riko Aida, Seirin’s basketball club’s coach. I’m a second year at Seirin.”
“Ah! So, your my senpai!!”
“Yes…”
“So what do you need, Senpai?
Did you call me here for an autograph??” Kise smiled and winked.
“Actually, I did…” Riko answered, her expression staying exactly the same. The blonde’s eyes widened a bit in surprised.
'Is she like Momoicchi..?
No, no, but she came to get an autograph…so she can’t be.’
“Alright! Where do I sign?” Kise brought out his marker he always kept just in case someone wanted an autograph.
Riko brought out the items the girls had given to her. She handed the first item, a journal, to the boy.
“On the back.”
“Okay! So—” Kise began to say what he was beginning to write.
“Dear, Aida Senpai…”
“Oh wait—”
“You are really amazing!”
“The autograph’s not—”
“You’re only a year older than me, but—”
“For me…..”
“You're— huh?”
“That’s for my classmate, actually..”
For a while, there was an awkward silence, but it was soon broken by Kise’s yelling.
“E-EH?!?! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME EARLIER?!?!”
“I THOUGHT YOU WERE JUST GOING TO SIGN YOUR NAME!!”
“BUT I WANTED TO WRITE A MESSAGE WITH IT, SINCE YOU WORK SO HARD!”
“I JUST ASKED FOR AN AUTOGRAPH! NOT A MESSAGE!”
“……do you have white-out?” Kise asked as he scratched the side of his head.
“No…”
The two sighed.
Kise crossed out the message he wrote, making sure it couldn’t be seen. He then flipped to the inside and signed his name.
“Mm.” Kise closed his eyes and pushed his bottom lip out as he offered the journal to her.
“Don’t pout, idiot.”
“I’m not pouting!”
“Sure…anyways, I have others my classmates want signed.” Riko showed the objects to Kise.
The blonde slowly opened his eyes and stared at Riko.
“You don’t want one, Senpai?”
“No.”
Kise began to look a bit confused.
“Then, you just wanted to meet me?” The blonde flashed a smile, but the coach stayed the same. Her face didn’t turn red, nor did she turn away. She just looked him in the eye.
“Honestly, no. I’m just doing my classmates a favor.”
The model stood there dumbfounded. For the first time in his life, there was a girl who was not interested in him. Even Momoi had taken a bit of interest, but once Kuroko showed up, all she could see was him. Riko didn’t seem to have any interest at all besides his skills in basketball.
“So…are you going to sign the rest?” Riko asked as she held out the rest of objects.
“…Of course, Senpai!”
Quickly, the blonde snapped out of his thoughts and signed the rest of the objects. Riko put her classmates’ things back into her bag then bowed.
“Thank you, Kise-kun.”
“Ah..you don’t have to be formal. We’re rivals right? So..”
“Well, I call Kuroko-kun and Kagami-kun the same way. Plus, it wouldn’t be polite.”
“Then just call me Kise!”
“No.”
“Then…Ryou—”
“No.”
“Why no—”
“Thank you, Kise-kun and we won’t lose next time.”
Then, for the first time since they met, Riko smiled at the blonde.
Kise stared at Riko in surprise.
“We won’t lo—”
Suddenly, Kise’s phone began to ring. The blonde answered the call.
“He—”
“WHY THE HELL ARE YOU TAKING SO LONG GET YOUR ASS OVER HE—” Immediately, the ace hung up on his captain.
“Well, see you tomorrow, Riko-senpai!!” Kise waved goodbye and walked out the door as if Kasamatsu hadn’t gotten pissed off at him.
'He really is an idiot…
And what did he mean by that? Kaijou and Seirin aren’t having a game tomorrow…’
“What were you talking about with Kise-kun?”
“WAH!”
Riko jumped up in surprise.
“K-K-Kuroko-kun, stop doing that!”
“But I only asked a question…”
“Aren’t you supposed to be running laps??”
“The team and I finished a few minutes ago.”
“…how much did you hear?”
“When Kise-kun told you not to be so formal.
The team all hid when they heard you two talking.” Kuroko pointed at the opened gym doors where heads soon creeped out from the sides.
“…all of you run one more lap then clean up.”
“Why?!?!”
“Is that 2 laps I hear?”
“ALRIGHT EVERYONE LETS START RUNNING.”
“Who’s idea was it to eavesdrop anyways?!”
As the team began to jog they shouted and argued like the bunch of adorable dorks they are.
Meanwhile, Kise walked back to Kaijou his thoughts full of the coach of his rival team.
Just the thought of her made him smile inside and out.
She was completely different from the girls he had met.
She treated him like a normal person from the start, just as his former teammates and his teammates now did.
He wanted to know more about her.

/ Next Day \
—
School had just ended and Riko’s classmates surrounded her at her desk, their eyes sparkling and their cheeks glowing red from excitement.
“Did he sign them?!?!” They all asked in unison.
The brunette took out the objects and handed them back to the owners.
The girls, except for one, all squealed as loud as they could, startling students nearby.
“How come there’s a scribble on the back of my journal? Where’s Kise-kun’s signature???” She asked, her face starting to become pale.
“Uh…Kise-kun messed up so he wrote it on the inside..! See?” Riko flipped open to the inside where Kise’s signature was. On the side, there was a message that read, “sorry, I messed up on the back!”
The girl squealed, startling students and the group of girls with her.
“Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU, AIDA-SAN!!!” The girl squeezed Riko in a tight hug.
“Y-your welcome…
I h-have to go to practice..now…” The coach slowly pried the girl off of her then smiled. Riko never really had girl friends so she felt overjoyed when the girl had hugged her. As the brunette packed her things and began to leave, the girl waved to Riko.
“See you tomorrow, Aida!!”
Riko waved back, smiled back, then left for the gym.
//time skips (kind of xD)\
During practice, Riko was easy going. She didn’t add laps or push-ups or anything (which made the boys a bit suspicious).
When practice ended, the boys weren’t as tired as they usually were.
As they cleaned the gym they talked about their coach’s attitude a bit, but decided to come to the conclusion,
“God watched over our asses today.”
When the team was close to finishing, they heard the gym doors slam open and a cheery voice followed.
“Riko-senpai!! Kurokocchi!! Kagamicchi!! OII~~!!!” The familiar blonde waved.
“Kise-kun…” Kuroko said, not surprised by his visit at all.
“What the hell is he doing here..?” Kagami sighed as he put away the last basketball into the cart.
“I’m here to see how my rivals are doing!”
“You just saw us yesterday though. Please go home now.”
“How mean, Kurokocchi!!
I can stay! Right, Riko-senpai?”
“No. It’s late. What are you even doing here? ”
“Meanie!”
“And who gave you the right to call me that?!”
“What meanie?”
“No!”
“Oh you mean Riko-senpai?
Then…Rikocchi!!”
“Rikocchi?! No! Don’t call me that!!”
“Okay, Rikocchi.”
“…you…”
“Hey, Rikocchi! Let’s go home together!”
“Don’t change the subject!”
“I’m serious! Practice is over right? So I’ll take you home.”
“Wait—”
“Good work today!”
Kise shouted to the players as he pulled the brunette away with him, leaving the boys dumbfounded.
For the next 3 weeks, Kise always dragged Riko with him. He would bring her to wherever he needed to go after school or practice—of course when she was done with practice—and then would bring her home.
She couldn’t understand why he would go all the way to Seirin to walk home with her of all people.
She had no clue at all.
“I don’t get it!”
“Get what?”
“Why do you keep walking me home?”
“Hmm..because I really like you, Rikocchi!”
The brunette stared at Kise for a while, then began to laugh.
“You can’t be serious!”
“I really do!”
“Kise-kun, there are a lot of perfect girls for you out there.
I’m far from perfect.” Riko smiled.
“…really? Because I think your perfect just the way you are.”
The brunette’s eyes widened in surprise. She didn’t expect the blonde to say something like that. Riko looked up at Kise, then her expression turned blank.
He had his tongue sticking out, and he pointed at her while shaping his hands like a gun. The boy winked then smiled.
“Did I make your heart skip a beat, Rikocchi???”
Immediately, Riko turned around and walked away.
“I’ll be going ahead.”
“WAH WAIT. I’m sorry!”
The brunette continued to walk ahead, her face flushed red, with Kise following.
“Idiot.”
