I Saw It First (Midorima x Riko)
//WARNING: MUCH OCCNESS X""D . . . It was just another Saturday, well it was an uneventful one. There was no practice for Seirin's basketball club today, for the coach decided to give them a resting day. But she began to regret it just a bit, since she had so much free time now. The brunette rolled around in her bed, sighing; opening and closing her phone once and a while to see if any of her teammates replied to her text which read, Subject: Bored. Are any of you guys free? Wanna go somewhere and hang out? . So far, all the people who had answered said they were busy. “Busy with what?” Riko pouted as she held her pink cellphone high above her face. “Well, I guess I'll go somewhere by myself then. If everyone is so "busy"..” The coach rolled out of bed, falling flat on her face. “Ouch...” She sat up and rubbed her nose in pain. The brunette stood up and stretched. She removed her clothes except for her undergarments then slipped on a pair of shorts and her pink shirt which had the face of a cute, little bear. Under the face had the word "Kuma (bear)". Riko combed her hair with her fingers and looked in her mirror. “Okay, I'm ready to go!” The coach grabbed her wallet then placed it in her left pocket. She then grabbed her phone and placed it in her right pocket. Riko walked downstairs and saw her dad watching some TV. “Papa, I'm going to go...shopping. Do you need anything?” “Awwww why don't you stay with me the whole day, Riko-tan???” Her father flew towards her for a hug, but she quickly dodged. “I don't really feel like staying home..so do you need anything?” “I need you, Riko-t—” “Later.” “Ah! Wa—!” Riko slammed the door shut and released a sigh. “Seriously...he's so..” Riko sighed once more as she began to walk down the sidewalk. “And I told him to stop calling me that!!” The brunette just strolled down the streets crowded with hundreds of people. ‘Maybe I should've stayed home.. It's really crowded today. Well, it is Saturday and this is Tokyo.’ As she continued down the streets, it seemed as if was becoming busier and busier. The horns of cars and the blabbering of strangers was causing Riko discomfort. ‘I guess I'll just stop at a shop to cool off.. It's getting ridiculous out here...’ So Riko stepped to the side, grabbed a handle, pulled the door open, and stepped into the random shop. Luckily, the place wasn't very crowded, but it was a bit empty. “Welcome, welcome!!” A man around his 70's happily walking up to Riko as if he hadn't seen a customer in ages. “You'll find almost anything you want to find here! You just need to look! And if you have a collection, then this is definitely the place for you!” The man grabbed a hold of one of Riko's hands, startling her. “If you need my help finding anything, just ask!” He nodded and laughed. “O-okay...I'll have a look around..” Riko stuttered, still in a bit of a surprise. She walked into one of the isles and her eyes widened. Strange items everywhere! It looked as if trash was displayed on shelves, but in a way it didn't, since the objects were organized depending on what they were. For example, picture frames, empty scrapbooks, candles, scented candles, and the list just goes on and on. “I guess you could really find anything you want here.. I wonder if they have...” Riko looked around for a while and finally found what she was looking for. The little section full of bears. Bear shirts, bear toys, bear stuffed toys. Riko's caramel orbs sparkles the moment she saw a medium sized, light brown bear. “It's perfect!” Riko said, but she also heard someone else say it too. The coach looked up and her eyes nearly fell out of her head. “M-Midorima Shintarou..?!?!” She exclaimed in shock. “Aida Riko...” Midorima kept his usual serious expression, but the look in his eyes clearly showed that he was a bit surprised, seeing the coach of Seirin. The two stared at each other for a minute then turned back to the stuffed bear. Riko grabbed the bear's left hand while Midorima grabbed the bear's right. Another silence, but this time the atmosphere changed. Riko and Midorima exchanged cold glares. “Let go of it.” They demanded, perfectly in synch. ANOTHER damn silence. Instead of pulling on it like children, the two continued glaring, tightening their grip on the arm they were holding, just in case the "tug of war" were to begin. “I saw it first.” “No, I saw it first.” “No, I did..” “No, I did.” “Listen to your senpai...” “You don't even go to my school..” “I'm still older than you, show your respect towards your elders by handing it over!!” “.....I can't do that.” “Why?! Is it because it's your "lucky item"?” . “..yes.” “Wow..........I'm still not letting you have it.” “I came all the way here just to find this perfect lucky item. I'm not going to hand it over that easily.” (Everyone run while you still can ;A; WIAT actually don't keep reading) Riko's demon like aura surrounded her as a vein popped on her forehead. Although Midorima could sense the sudden change, he did not falter. He kept his tight grip on the bear and tried his best not to be intimidated. But..it was a bit of a struggle for him. After all, the memory of Riko taking out that bug with her knife.. The memory of almost being murdered by that knife covered in...ketchup (he hopes it was ketchup) kept him from ripping it away from her. “Is everything going we—?” The old owner of the strange store asked as he approached the two, but he was cut off. “GIVE IT TO ME!!” The two yelled, their faces with scary expressions only a few centimeters away. The old man adjusted his glasses and stared at the two. He then began to laugh, causing Riko and Midorima to snap out of it. They moved their attention to the old man. “Ahaha! I didn't know you two knew each other! And you're in a relationship!! What a surprise! Ahh young love! Hahaha!” The old man smiled. Riko's and Midorima's eyes widened as they stared back at each other, finally realizing their faces were only about a centimeter away from each other. The two quickly backed away from each other, dropping the bear. Both of their faces were painted red. “I-I'm not w-w-with him!!” Riko shouted, trying to sound mad instead of embarrassed. “We a-are not together!!” Midorima tried to hide his blush, but it was no use. It was so obvious. TOO obvious. The old man laughed once more. “There's no need to hide it! Seeing you two makes me feel young again...!” The two teens could hear a hint of sadness in the man's voice. Riko frowned a bit as her face finally began to cool down. She glanced down at the bear. ‘T-this is my chance! But...’ “..Seeing us..t-together..makes you feel young again?” Midorima questioned the man. ‘W-what is he thinking?!’ Riko thought in surprise and shock, kind of afraid of what the green-haired teen was going with this. “Yes..!” The old man smiled brightly. “...it makes you happy?” The old man looked a bit surprised by Midorima's words, but then he just smiled again. “Yes..it reminds me of my wife and I when we were younger.” It looked as if he was looking back at his memory's with his wife. There was another silence. Then, Midorima grabbed Riko's wrist and pulled her close to him. The brunette's cheeks turned light pink. “H-hey! What are you—?” Midorima lowered his head and put his mouth to Riko's ear. “Just go along with it.” He then picked the bear up and placed it into Riko's hands. “I guess you're right...it is wrong to hide love..” Midorima said, trying his best not to sound embarrassed at all, saying those words. But.. it was obvious that he was embarrassed. Luckily, the old man didn't notice and just nodded. “Absolutely!!” As swiftly as possible, Midorima chose a glass bear painted the exact color of Riko's eyes. He pulled the petite brunette over to the counter then grabbed his wallet. “I'd like to purchase these two bears, please.” He said in a cool manner. “Of course, anything for my best customer!” “Wait wha—??” Midorima squeezed Riko's wrist. She flinched due to the pain. “Hey!! What's the b—?!” “I told you to just go along with it!” Midorima whispered to the brunette. “What do you think you're doing?!” Riko whispered back in an irritated tone. “Just wait till we step out!!” “Why?!” “Just do it!!” Eventually, Riko gave in and decided to wait for the explanation outside. ‘Seriously..what is this guy thinking?!?’ After Midorima purchased the two bears and exchanged a few words with the old man, he and Riko exited the shop. Lucky for them, the streets weren't too crowded now. “Why did you act like we were..d-dating?!” Riko shouted, her cheeks slowly becoming red. “...I just wanted to get out of there already..that childish bickering was going to keep us in there for a while.” “Huh?! That can't be it!! Y—” “I-I didn't do it to make the owner happy! Because I am not familiar with him. Just so you know..” Midorima pushed his glasses against the bridge of his nose, turning away from the petite brunette. “Huh??” Riko thought about what he had said for a minute, then came to a conclusion. “I see...you tsundere.” The coach chuckled to herself. The thought of this boy, who was usually so serious, was actually a bit of a tsundere. “I'm not a tsundere..!!!” Midorima said in an irritated tone. The brunette chuckled once again. “Sure...” A sly grin appeared across her face. She then held the stuffed bear up to the tsundere. “Here.” “..it's yours.” “Eh?! But I didn't buy it!” “Think of it as a gift.” “For what?!” “...just keep it. Besides, I already have my lucky item.” Midorima showed the glass bear he had bought to Riko. “Then I'm going to have to pay you back!” The brunette sighed and began to drag Midorima down the streets. “I-I told you to think of it as a gift.. You don't have to pay it back.” “Well, I'm paying it back anyways!” “......you're stubborn...” “Shut up or I'll beat you.” “..Where are we going?” “You'll see.” Soon, the two arrived at a crêpe shop, where Riko forced Midorima to accept and eat the crêpe she bought him. After they had finished, they decided to go on their separate ways, but..they didn't. Riko had gotten distracted by an arcade and Midorima just..followed, having no idea why. But Riko didn't ask why, after all she actually preferred the shooting guard's company rather than being alone. After the arcade, the two had a few (a lot XDD) of prizes and many stares from strangers. Next, they went to a bookstore just across the street, then to another place, then another! Without knowing it, the two basically were kind of on a date, and they were enjoying it. — » Epilogue « — “Hey..isn't that Coach?” “...” “She's with who?!” “.....” “Oh my gosh! I can't believe it! We have to tell everybody, Mitobe!!” Koganei pulled out his cellphone as he began to text the team. “Ah..isn't that, Shin-chan?!” Takao hid behind a corner and stared at his teammate. “And..he's with..Seirin's coach?! That scary girl?!?!” Takao pulled his phone out and began to text his team Soon, Seirin's and Shūtoku's basketball club members were following Midorima and Riko. One team following on the right, and one team following on the left, both thinking they were on a romantic filled date.
