I can't get over how good our girl looks. They really stuck with the regalness and beauty of Kitana without overly sexualizing her 😭
Can you do a request for Kitana x Shin Megamk Tensei Pixie!Reader? A Pixie who’s a small mischievous fairy that inhabit the Living Forest that like to play pranks on anyone else
YESSS I love this idea, its so unique, I'm loving it😈
Also, just wanna say that I had no idea what Shin Megami Tensei was, so I had to spend a little while doing my research, so I hope it turned out decent :)
I also wanna apologise for the wait, I took a little break from literally everything to recharge🫶
Among living trees
Warnings: female reader, pranks, mentions of death and violence(?)
Summary: A mischievous little creature meets a visitor of the living forest, sparking moments of mystery, curiosity and connection.
The living forest was no ordinary stretch of land filled with trees and green. Its name carried weight not only in Outworld, but all of the realms. It was a place of memory and silence, a resting place for the souls of those who once fought for their realm, innocents, or even the once who ruled.
The air carried a peculiar atmosphere. Some considered it ethereal, even sacred. To others, it was unsettling or haunting. Within its depths lived not only the whispering trees, who spoke for the dead, but also strange creatures, hosts of the forest, who, if they felt like it, would come out of hiding and acknowledge their visitors. The greeting wouldn't be a simple hello, but a harmless pranks, followed by tiny giggles and a string of glitter, courtesy of the little pixies.
Small, winged, and deceptively sweet in appearance, these little creatures thrived on mischief. They never harmed, but they weren't exactly gentle either, enjoying the frustration and fluster of their targets. Still, they were a wonder to behold, since such encounters were quite rare, and for those who met them, it became and unforgettable experience.
But after the schemes of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, the creatures of the forest grew wary. The pixies, in particular, endangered, retreated even further into hiding, becoming rarer than ever. Now, travelers tread lightly here, careful not to push them even more into secrecy, or, even worse, extinction.
Being the commander of Outworld's army was no small duty, weighing heavily on anyone's shoulders. For Kitana, the pressure only deepened after General Shao's imprisonment and her sister's ascension to the throne. It was her duty not only to safeguard the realm from outside threats, but also to make sure that the scars left behind were tended to. The Living Forest was one such scar. Once exploited by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, who harvested some of its souls to create Ermac, a being now bound mostly to her late father, King Jerrod, and the mother and former empress, Sindel, the forest lingered in a fragile state. Vulnerable, yet still sacred.
The Living Forest was quiet, almost respectfully so, its usual melody subdued. Kitana stepped carefully on the light path, alert to any signs of disturbance. Every rustle of filled leaves or summer of sunshine made her pause, her hand resting on the hilt of her fan, though she hoped she wouldn't need it. The forest's vulnerability weighed on her mind. What if there was a danger lurking in the dark? Waiting for a mistake?
Yet, beneath that caution, was a softer purpose. She wasn't there merely out of duty. She wanted to honour the fallen warriors who fought for the realm's protection, who gave it their all, their souls now resting, now a part of this sacred place. Perhaps she could even speak to the lingering spirits of former generals, seeking counsel that would strengthen her command. Every step she took was measured, but her heart lifted slightly at the thought of connection, learning, and paying respect.
For the first time in days, the weight of her responsibility felt lighter, tempered by the thought that even in this place, she could find guidance, solace, and maybe even a hint of company.
Just as she took a few steps further, she stopped, having heard a light giggle. An enemy? A threat? An animal? She couldn't tell. The atmosphere around her turned eerie, as everything went silent. The whispers of the souls within the trees grew louder, and the sunlight seemed to run away.
She made up her mind and kept exploring, hoping to find whatever was lurking. Weirdly enough, the trail she walked seemed to circle her back around, bringing her to the same spot from which she had left.
She was a strong and fierce woman, but even the best soldier feels shivers run down their spine. Having hoped it wouldn’t be necessary to use them, Kitana felt she needed to take out her fans.
She paused, realising they were missing.
Kitana paused, then allowed herself a small smile.
“You really know how to use words, don’t you?”
You didn’t answer right away. Instead, when her gaze returned to you, she realised her fans were already in your hands.
“Such beautiful weaponry,” you said, turning them with surprising familiarity. “Fitting for the commander…”
You twirled them in the air, mimicking the graceful strikes she was known for. Then your grin widened.
“Although, I was hoping I could take you… just not in a fight.” You giggled, the sound light and daring, earning a scoff from her.
“Ugh, don’t tell me that Earthrealmer Cage has rubbed off on you.”
“Actually,” you tilted your head playfully, “he did seem like a fun person. Pity danger was lurking at the time. I couldn’t approach.”
“Speaking of danger…” Kitana began, her tone sharper now, “I was hoping you could update me on the forest’s situation.”
Your smile faded slowly, realizing she wasn’t joking anymore.
“I haven’t noticed any new threats recently,” you reported. “I can’t speak for my sisters or what they may have seen, but in this area, the one I supervise, some souls were unable to rest, causing a few… commotions… as you may have noticed.”
Kitana gave a small nod. “I did see some restless trees on my way, yes. But why?”
“Simple,” you explained, shrugging slightly. “Those souls were once warriors. Now they’re restless at the chance of combat.” You said it casually, almost like it wasn’t a big deal.
“It won’t take them long to settle,” you added. “I’d give it a few months.”
Kitana studied you for a moment, noting the clever glint in your eyes. "You certainly keep watch over this forest," she stated, her tone softer now, a tint of respect lingering.
You nodded, a faint sparkle of pride in your grin. "Of course! Someone has to make sure things don’t get dangerous… or too boring," you replied. Kitana smiled faintly, placing her fans back in their place. "I can see that. It’s impressive, how carefully you watch over these souls… and how resourceful you are."
You tilted your head, considering the compliment. Then, with a mischievous giggle, you flicked your hands, sending a soft swirl of glitter and breeze, dancing through Kitana’s dark strands. The particles shimmered like sunlight through leaves, settling around everything else. The commander couldn’t help but laugh lightly at the gentle, yet amusing gesture. "You are for sure… unforgettable," Kitana said, bowing slightly, politely, in acknowledgment. "Thank you for your vigilance and for this… unique greeting."
You fluttered closer, hovering near her right shoulder. "It’s been fun! Promise you’ll come back? I get pretty lonely here, and I’m sure someone like you is perfect to keep me company. Especially when the forest gets quiet."
Kitana straightened her expression, yet a gentle smile lingered on her lips. "I will. And I’ll make sure to visit more often, especially when I know such a tease is waiting for me."
And with that, you left back to your hidden shelter, leaving behind a trail of sparkling light, barely there. Kitana took a deep breath, feeling a rare calm settle over her. Weirdly, within that calm, her heart beat a little faster. You weren’t just a tease… you were someone she felt drawn to, someone she couldn’t forget.
Heading toward the forest’s edge, the weight of her duties lightened for the first time in a while. She felt pleased at what she had achieved today—not only had she ensured the safety of a once-endangered part of Outworld, but she had also found a connection that made her heart stir in a way she hadn’t expected.
