Hey Nim, I wanted to ask where you bought your rocks from. I wanted to start a small collection, but I don't really know where to start

i started at some local rock shops! i dunno how many of those you can find around you personally, but my collection got started from be going to those and picking out a few that i liked and then just gradually building it up from there. genuinely just look for places that label themselves specifically as rock/mineral specialty stores, as those are probably the most reliable.

i’ve also gotten one or two off of ebay but i don’t recommend it... you have to be more careful with that because it’s hard to tell the genuineness of some minerals (especially ones that are easy to pass off as other stones, like selling sodalite or iolite as lapis lazuli, as they look similar and are cheaper than lapis). that’s not just an ebay thing though, try and buy from stores that specialize for the most part in rocks!

most of my shopping nowadays is done on etsy! some of my personal favorite stores are earthlightgems, TheWindingsShop, CoyoteRainbow, and StructureMinerals. i haven’t bought something from all of these shops yet, but these are the stores i browse and have a lot of things on my wishlist from. they’re all fairly priced things and they all offer a large variety of tumbled stones, raw minerals, crystals, etc, so you can pick out the stuff you like best and get a variety of things!

take this all with a grain of salt as i’m just a very enthusiastic, but amateur collector. i don’t know a ton about rock identification or how to tell certain stones from fake ones, so i can’t give u advice there. happy rock hunting regardless though!!!

hmm that seems like a good idea actually!! 0: if i cant decide by the time i go to the store then ill just do that!

i only drink ice tea because like. warm tea more like warm PEE. warm tea is gross
