Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there! 🌺 This is one of my most favorite photos of my mom. It was taken in 1970 on a boat floating somewhere along the Pacific Ocean. In a few short years after this was taken, she’d meet and marry my dad, move to the East Coast, have my sister and I and then embark on a plethora of zippy travel adventures around the world. Her mom grew up during the Great Depression and as a result was pretty thrifty when it came to cooking. But my mom was inspired by the fresh food movement of the 1970’s and all her jet-set travel trips which made her pretty courageous in the kitchen. I learned a lot about food and nutrition from my mom and all my initial cooking and baking skills. For that my gratitude runs deep. She’s pretty humble about her seven decades of cooking now and will often dismiss the fact that mealtime at her house is anything special or extraordinary. But it really is and she really is. 🌺Wishing a great big cheers and a wonderful day to all the ladies out there who teach their kids about the joy of cooking. It’s a lifelong gift that only gets better year after year. - - - #mothersday #mom #kitchenlessons #momphoto #happymothersday #1970s #family #portrait #familystories https://www.instagram.com/inthevintagekitchen/p/BxX7CNOgi4I/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1tn30lj7gc9gn
