Summary: Kit Connor has no idea what he’s getting himself into when he signs on for a new romance film. Thrown out of his comfort zone—riding motorcycles, navigating intense scenes, and blurring the lines between characters—he finds himself learning to trust his co-star in ways he never expected. But as the on-screen chemistry deepens, fans begins to wonder: is the romance really just acting? Or do the doe eyes and soft smiles from his scene partner—now his closest friend—feel a little too real?
Warnings: Slow burn, friends to lovers, coworkers to lovers, mature themes, explicit language, kissing, mentions of intimate scenes (let know if I missed anything) [nothing too serious in the first few chapters]
A/N: Hi! Welcome to one of my first works! I'm so excited to share this concept, so please feel free to comment and interact. This is ongoing and will contain multiple smaller parts that are all interconnected, that I will hopefully 🤞 have linked together in a masterlist.
*Disclaimer: this will mostly be a series of instagram and Twitter posts showcasing their online interactions/relationship, along with interview snippets and fan reactions. The first part is really the only one with excess narration*
First Glimpse
As production on their latest film nears its final scenes, Kit Connor and rising star Devin Evans are preparing to shift gears—from quiet set days to the buzz of press tours and red carpets. The film, still officially under wraps but rumored to be titled Through the Smoke, follows two lifelong best friends, Luke Preston (Connor) and Alex Dalton (Evans), whose bond is tested and transformed as they navigate a pivotal turning point in their relationship—set against the backdrop of motorcycles and the close-knit biking community they call home.
Connor, stepping into the role of Luke, plays a character both grounded and emotionally tangled. Evans’s portrayal of the bold, fiercely loyal Alex brings a steady vulnerability to a story that blends adrenaline, intimacy, and change. With filming wrapping up, the two leads have been given the green light to start posting about the project, offering fans their first glimpses into the world they’ve helped bring to life.

It starts off small—the speculation. Neither Devin nor Kit is surprised when a few comments start wondering if there’s more than just on-screen chemistry between them. They laugh about it quietly, tucked away in Devin’s trailer during the final stretch of filming.
Getting close was inevitable. The nature of the project—playing two people whose lives are deeply, emotionally intertwined—meant that any initial awkwardness had to fade quickly. And it did. Much quicker than either of them anticipated. Open conversations, late-night dinners, and long days on set helped them ease into a genuine friendship that felt effortless.
Devin had held a quiet admiration for Kit even before filming began. A fan of his previous work, she initially struggled to hide her amazement. But after a few weeks, the awe gave way to something warmer, more familiar, like the comfort you feel with someone who just gets you.
Her journey to the film was anything but conventional. Already part of the motorcycle community, Devin had been riding since 21, shortly after college. A longtime friend from a Facebook riding group tipped her off about the film when it was still in early casting. At first, she hesitated. She liked the life she was building. But he pushed her to audition, arguing she was perfect for the role, and eventually, she gave in.
A few callbacks and one chemistry read with Kit later, she was flying to Georgia to start filming in March.
And it turned out to be everything she never knew she wanted. She loved the work, the story, the character, the challenge of stepping so far outside her comfort zone. She loved representing the biker community, and most of all, she loved working with Kit.
He was infuriatingly sweet. Endlessly supportive. The kind of co-star who made everything easier, just by being who he was. Their friendship clicked almost immediately, and it became the steady foundation of the entire experience.
Of course, Kit was handsome—gorgeously so. And yes, he was the type of guy Devin would normally gush about to her friends. But between the late-night filming and stretches of highway, she’d come to understand what they had: a friendship. A real one.
Oops I forgot to share this ode to one of my favorite shows! Heartstopper is one if my main comfort shows, and one of the best page to screen adaptations I've ever seen. I could gush about it for ages, and the second season got me inspired to finally draw some proper fanart.
