This clay model is of a ‘Patangbaz’ or an expert kite-flyer, dressed in traditional north Indian costume, holding a colourful kite and a reel of thread to control its movement. In the 19th & early 20th century, under the British rule, many such clay models were made to document Indian culture and lifestyle in great detail.
