One would have thought the meeting would be pleasant. There would be tears, right? A welcoming atmosphere of a reuniting father and son that would put everyone at ease.
No, that would be too good to be true. Not in this world, not after everything each has been through.
Qrow stood his ground, surrounded by filthy hordes of men who brandished weapons with itchy trigger fingers, in front of a large ship. The sails were black and stained with blood, yet in perfect condition. No rips nor tears in sight. He wondered if the inside of the ship looked as nice and tidy as the outside. More importantly, he was curious as to who this “Pirate King”, this “Bird of Prey” was. He seemed to be more well known to the port cities, all recounting a man with auburn and black hair, missing an eye and brandishing an unusual sword alongside his cutthroat attitude.
The missing eye and hair color stuck in his mind, feeling the cross he bore growing heavy around his neck. Suddenly, the crew began to cheer and scream, sneers and smirks plastering their face as eyes glued themselves to an unknown noise coming from the deck. Boot heels to wood, an unmistakable sound, slowly made their way to the side of the ship with purpose.
The air was thick and full of stomach turning tension as the man who was dubbed “Pirate King” presented himself. The two men locked eyes for what felt like eons, sizing one another up. The one-eyed man walked off of his ship, his posture tall and authoritative, and came to stand just a few feet from Qrow. They didn’t need to question one another. It was as if broken pieces of fine china had come together. To ask who each other was was wasted breath.
The crew seemed to catch on a little late as they backed off of the raven-haired man and inquisitively looked to their captain.
“...Qrow.” The man spoke. His voice brought fourth the only memory this young man had of him. One bloodied eye socket and fear hidden behind a false smile as he hid both him and his sister away. The last act this man committed to Qrow was to protect him. The next sentence took him by surprise.
“You’re alive.”
Qrow narrowed his eyes, a new anger boiling within him, though he decided it was not the time to exercise his rage; surrounded as he was.
“I’m just as surprised to see you drawing breath...” He swallowed, unsure if he was able to from the word. Rolling his shoulders, his tight muscles relaxed as he spat, “Father.”
MRAU Kite and Qrow meeting might be my first MRAU One shot, even if it isn’t really canon to the AU.
‘cause i do what i want
