They go to investigate.
And hidden in the bushes, tiny and week, barely old enough to open its eyes, they find a kitten. Alone.
So they decide to go get Sun, bc he knows the most about kitties!
After some careful monitoring, they end up scooping the kitten up, taking her to the vet, and finding out that this tough little thing is exceptionally special, surviving so long all alone, so young, and in such conditions... and she's polycaudal, to boot!
The kids beg to keep her, and Jack even goes so far as to claim the cat distribution has chosen them. Sun was already in love, Solar is ambivalent about it and Moon talks a big game about not liking cats while also absolutely spoiling all three rotten.
She winds up getting fixed, and Cleo+Muffin lowkey treat her like their own kitten in a hilarious and surprising turn of events (Moon, of course, ribs Sun over how "even your cats are gay, dude!" Sun then punches him).
Naming her becomes a family vote - and I say this bc I can't decide so BOOM POLL
