The Expectation Vs The Realism
(AKA Why I Ship Kiri x Rotxo Instead Of Kiri x Spider)
Kiri x Rotxo had so much potential that was teased with the scenes in Way of the Water and then...nope.
I am aware I'm probably alone in my feelings but I was indifferent to the Kiri x Spider ship when Way of the Water first came out. With the amount of screen time the two had together. They are they pairing you EXPECT. You could see it coming and I was just like 'meh' at first. But after seeing WotW in full I turned into a non shipper. There is also the large age difference between the actors to consider for romantic scenes and it just makes me uncomfortable.
Not to mention as others have pointed out Spider grew up with the Sully kids. While yes that can be considered cute with some ships it can also be considered incest adjacent. There is none of that feeling with Kiri x Rotxo.
Another way to put it...haven't we already SEEN the human/na'vi love storyline with Jake and Neytiri? They are already possibly rehashing it once in Fire and Ash. Do we really need a repeat?
Anyone whose been on my blog will know that I'm not the fondest of Spider in general.
Furthermore lets be realistic here if it WASN'T a movie would you REALLY expect someone to forgive and romantically love, the person who SAVED the man who was the cause of ALL your families trauma? The person whose the reason your grandfather, and aunt died. The person who destroyed your parents original home. Who was the reason you and your siblings had to be uprooted from the only home you've ever known because he was hunting you. The person who KILLED YOUR BROTHER and was going to kill your FATHER. If you found out that that person was STILL a threat to your family, because he was SAVED when he SHOULD have been dead?
You really expect Kiri to forgive Spider for that? As a teenager? That sort of thing would be hard for adults to forgive, let alone a 14/15 year old.
Would she HATE him FOREVER for it in the given circumstances? I don't think so. But any ROMANTIC feelings that she may have had would be burned away.
That's just a realistic truth.
Also the scene of the two of them playing with Rotxo's Tukun was just CUTE!!
Rotxo was kind and supportive to Kiri from the start and as someone who has an arc of coming to terms with who she is. And her identity that is what Kiri needs. They are the pairing that would happen if the plot was REALISTIC.
I know this will be drowned in the influx of Kiri x Spider posts and shippers. But it really is just SAD how kirotxo is thought of so little and never really given a chance.
