Friendships Before Ships

Guys I don't care who/what pair you ship Or what fandom its from. But a fictional ship should NOT come before your relationships with your mutuals and/or real life friends.

Your not always going to agree on a ship and that's OKAY that happens. But don't stop talking to someone or scream/type horrible things at them just because they don't share your view on that ONE thing.

Don't sacrifice what could be/IS a REALLY GOOD THING because your friend had a different opinion on the topic.

Agree to disagree or however you work it out but stay friends.

In Descendants, Ben, Audrey & Mal are the only characters to ever show accountability and apologise for their actions.

In D1, when Audrey comes up to Mal and bows, it feels very much like I was wrong about you. In D3, she gives a full apology for her actions without hiding it.

In D2, Ben apologises to Mal when she runs off to the Isle. In D3, he apologises to Audrey.

Mal shows remorse for her actions of spelling Ben, knowing she might lose him by making the anti-love potion. She writes a whole apology to Audrey in her diary. She tries to make things right with Jane and she apologises to Audrey at the end of D3 and to her friends for lying.

We tend to get on Mal's case a lot for love spelling Ben because she takes away his agency.

However, I am going to say this loud and clear - Evie takes away Mal's agency to be honest and true to herself through Descendants 2 and 3. She's not allowed to say no to her and disagree because every time she even tries to talk to her, she's gaslit and shut down.

People go on and on about how Mal lied to Evie and the others. No, Evie assumed and also gaslit Mal into questioning her reality. Like I know you would always stand up for the Isle kids.

Mal is not even allowed to argue - yes, Uma does the same thing later but Uma is not supposed to be Mal's friend here and also Uma is way more understanding when Mal is in actual danger.

Evie is a gaslighter and downright emotionally abusive to Mal.

Why is it ALWAYS MAL who cops it from the fandom when evie is just as bad if not WORSE than her?!

Not just as bad - she's worse.

Have we ever seen Evie apologise to anyone? Even in Descendants 3, Mal is victim blamed for being gaslit into apologising to Evie even after she admitted that she was terrified/scared of losing her best friend. I'm sorry but if someone is so scared of losing their best friend, that they have to lie, they need a new best friend. Mal was genuinely scared of Evie.

Mal cops it so much for love spelling Ben and rightfully so, it's bad. But she shows remorse - she takes action to make up for it.

evie gets away with EVERYTHING!

She flirts with Ben? 'She didn't know he and Audrey were dating. She was told to get a prince'.

She lectures Mal about her spell book? 'She's just giving tough love Mal shouldn't be using magic'.

She doesn't care if Ben dies? 'She's protecting auradon.'

She gaslights Mal in D3? 'Mal lied/didn't tell her the truth first'.

STOP EXCUSING evie's actions when she does everything Audrey, Ben and Mal are screamed at for and more!

Everyone tears into Audrey when she talks over Ben in D1....but where's that same anger at EVIE when SHE gaslights Mal in D3?

I remember Audrey did the Courtesy with Mal after she defeated her mother. They were both smiling. I’m confused on why the writers continued with the whole her being bitter thing. This proved to her that not all villain kids are bad and they choose Good.

I like to think of it similar to he way in every Z-O-M-B-I-E-S movie he's in, Bucky Buchanan also looses all of his character development.

They're just characters the writers use to oppose the addition n if more characters groups ig.

But of course the villain must be connected to Mal and the writers hate Audrey's character so they regressed her!

I am now putting Audrey in the same category as I do Maleficent (who I love as a iconic character but hate as a parent ) I hate Audrey's CANON WRITING but I love what she COULD HAVE BEEN/her POTENTIAL.

People sympathize with evie that her mother made her worth tied to finding a prince…what about Audrey? Her worth was tied to Ben and only being his Queen.

Especially as the fact that Evie gets her happy ending with Doug. Ok the couple isn't healthy but she gets someone. Audrey loses the guy she was groomed for since a small child, becomes a villain and doesn't get anyone else either.
