in the baon universe, if edge had doomfanger would stretch ever be willing to get close to him? or would he try and it just not work? just imagining edge having to choose between his cat and stretch is sad ;w;
Whew, that’s a tough one. Honestly, a cat being in their house from the get-go would have probably been a big interference. Stretch can’t exactly help his phobia even if he knows its unreasonable and he wasn’t in a good place then, either. All of them were staying briefly in the Tale brother’s home at the beginning and either Stretch or the cat would have had to hole up in one of the bedrooms, neither option being exactly great. Once they all had a home of their own, Stretch likely would have skipped out on any events in the Fell bros home and before he spent time working with the kids at the Y, Edge probably wouldn’t have been very sympathetic to Stretch’s trauma, likely would have taken it as a further insult.
Doomfanger would probably have been a hell of an obstacle to them getting together at all.
If the cat somehow arrived later, I think Stretch would try very hard to work through his issues, but it’s a hellava thing to deal with. His trauma stems from repeatedly watching his brother die, mixed in with having to kill Temmie and gain the LV for it over and over, that’s not in the standard therapy listing. I think Edge wouldn’t ask it of him, perhaps even insist he not traumatize himself further by trying. He might ask Red to take in the cat, hopefully he and Ozzy can come to terms with each other.
