Kawaii Kon Recap!

So Kawaii Kon was this past weekend.

I’d like to say I had fun. 

The first day was pretty sweet, I spent the day with someone from tumblr and they ended up being really cool and chill. It was a great way to spend the day, and I actually stayed at the con for a decent while for once.

I bought way more prints than I planned.

And also some buttons.

I got a giant cat and a couple of hats.

I also went to my first con concert.

So yeah, did a few things this weekend.

I got motivated to start back up on my art again, so. Let’s see how that goes.

Right now I feel like I can’t draw at all, though.

Anyway, my tumblr companion of the day helped me spot out any life is strange and kobayashi merch, so I bought everything that was pointed out. I couldn’t help myself. 

Along the way I kept complimenting all the artists because I genuinely did love their art, and I kept getting inspired just seeing everyone’s hard work. 

I learned that cons can take card, now, rather than just cash. Technology has advanced once again.

Anyway, on saturday I ended up getting a little fucked over.

My brother gave me some wine, and I downed it easy. It tasted pretty okay, went down even better. Only problem, is I started getting the shakes and I also felt like throwing up.

I had to go back to the hotel for a second time, the first being because my rwby cosplay felt a little snug. But by the time we reached I realized I was actually okay.

But alas, I switched to Chloe, went back, then headed back again because I felt so sick.

It was to the point that I didn’t even want to walk.

I don’t know if it’s because of my medication or strictly the wine or a mix of the two, but it sucked. 

It didn’t help that my face had started swelling that same day.

I don’t know if that was allergies or also the medication.

I’m thinking the former.

My brother was gonna go back by himself but tried to put in his contacts again and it ended up being a whole thing. He had the whole bottle of wine and then some so he got really drunk and loud and basically annoying. I got a bit scared cause I seriously thought he was going blind.

More annoying still he forced me to smoke with him when I made it known I didn’t want to cause I was scared of getting charged since it was a non-smoking hotel.

So anxiety and paranoia bit like a bitch.

So come sunday, I decided not to cosplay at all. My eyes were like golf balls and I didn’t wanna deal with trying to hide that, so I waited till it went down a bit, then headed out for a few hours. Met up with a photographer acquaintance, went to the concert then headed back.

I enjoyed myself overall but I still wish I had someone solid to go through the whole con with.

YUPP!! I got even more official merch in the bag this time around thanks to my lovely box split lady Harpy's on Instagram. A good chunk of the newer fan merch is actually from various zines.

Although the layout isn't as creative as last years, I think it looks just as impressive. :J I don't enjoy hanging hard keychains (acrylic, metal, etc.) over the badges, so instead I hung the key of love keychains outside of the bag! Himiko's was attached to her plush and unfortunately Shuichi, Kaede, and Ryoma were left out bc I didn't know where to display them.

Just like last year, I went to convention with extra DR merch I didn't want in the hopes of giving it to other cosplayers. There weren't a lot this year, but I managed to hand out some stickers, the V3 cast sleeping postcards, and a bunch of keychains + badges to an artist alley vendor.

This badge was so fucking expensive and it had the nerve to BREAK sometime during my artist alley crawl 😭 I hate the clip part why was it designed like that 💔💔

Not to mention the adhesive is STUCK TO THE BAG WINDOW. whyyyyyyy

Danganronpa 1/2 ita bag (Kawaii Kon 2023 - Saturday)! 💝

Finished putting this together Saturday morning and it hurt like a BITCH to wear 💀 Friday was sort of a lucky day because the Hiyoko ID card came in while I was out AND my sister found a booth at con selling the ViVimus rubber straps!!! I’m so happy about those, I’ve been looking everywhere for my babies. It’s not visible but there’s some really cute charms/buttons on the sides of the bag (Mondo/Celestia heart pins w/ coffin charms containing murderers on one side + their victims on the other).

Shoutout to kittenmobile (Taka, Mukuro, Sayaka, Hiyoko, Mondo, Celestia heart buttons) and sirincorrect (coffin charms) for making my favorite Danganronpa fan merch of all time :,)b

I finished putting this together Thursday night...it was really tricky pinning the pictures and badges down (the ita insert is so thick!!). You can’t see it but I also had a Sonic!Ann and Tamagochi!Morgana charm hanging off the bags zippers. Calling this one the meow meow bag because, like last year, it’s mostly dedicated to my babes Morgana and Mitsuo!!

Special thanks to Allyssinian (Mitsuo heart button), OkeanosOrnaments (Mitsuo shaker charm), and Straitjacketzz (chibi photos)!!! My bag would’ve been sad as hell without their stuff in it. :,9
